Orin-Swift-8-Years-In-The-Desert
It’s hard to believe that this fall will be my twenty first harvest in the Napa Valley. Some of those vintages I remember fondly, others I’d like to forget. What may be harder to believe is that this harvest also marks the twentieth year that Orin Swift has been in business. Twenty years. It makes me feel old. But I love it, maybe now more than ever. As many of you know, the first commercial wine I made for Orin Swift was Zinfandel. But none of you have ever tried it. None of you have tried it because it was never bottled. I sold it on the bulk market. I would argue that Zinfandel may be the most difficult varietal to tame. But when you get it right it rewards you like no other. If winemaking is a series of challenges Zinfandel has them all in spades. So, in 2009 I took a break from Zinfandel and its challenges. It would end up being an eight-year break. Eight years in the desert. It was never if but when would we make Zinfandel again. That when is now. Today is a big day. I am reunited with the varietal that got me started in the wine business and created Orin Swift. We hope you’ve enjoyed the videos and below there is a preview of all eight of the labels. This project is by far the most personal of any I have undertaken. There will be one more reveal when the wine is shipped this fall. A unique item will accompany the wine and will only be offered with this first release. Nothing has been spared on this project. The tank is empty; everything was left on the field. This is literally blood sweat and tears. So, with no further ado, we proudly give you 8 Years in the Desert. A blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Syrah and small percentages of other red varietals.

Famille Perrin Reserve Cotes du Rhone Rouge has a pretty deep color. The nose offers a beautiful aromatic complexity, marked by Grenache and a hint of blackcurrant brought by the ripe Syrah. On the palate, it shows complexity with tannins still present, but with finesse and elegance, and a beautiful freshness. Pairs well with beef, lamb and poultry.

The growing success we have enjoyed over the last three vintages is proof enough that the KL Côtes du Rhône fits both the taste profile and quality standards that our customers have come to expect. Since 1929, this winery has been bringing local vignerons together from the outlying areas of Avignon in the Southern Rhône to produce delicious wines that epitomize the region’s complex terroirs. Kermit works closely with winemaker Jean-François Pasturel to develop the blend. Pasturel is thrilled to be able to have the chance to produce a Côtes du Rhône he does not have to filter to death. It is his tête de cuvée, his pride and joy.

Chapoutier-Belleruche-Red
Tasting Colour : garnet red. Nose : aromas of red fruits (mainly morello cherries) and spices (liquorice, grey pepper). Mouth : this wine has a great structure with firm and silky tannins. Lamb chops. Grilled duck fillets. VINTAGE 2014 Grape variety Mainly Grenache and Syrah. Soil The vineyards of the red Côtes du Rhône “Belleruche” covers 4 departments (Drôme, Vaucluse, Gard and Ardèche) on different soils (clay and calcareous alluvial deposit terraces, clay…) giving to the “Belleruche” an extraordinary richness and complexity. Harvest The grapes are harvested at good maturity. Winemaking The grapes are entirely destemmed. Vatting lasts around 15 days and provides a great tannic structure. This allows ageing and guarantees a good stability. Maturing Ageing is performed in vats with regular pumping over in order to clarify the wine. Alcohol degree 13,5%

Bold red in color with a ruby hue. In the nose, you'll find concentrated aromas of wild cherry and blackberry fruit alongside more exotic flavors of anise, white pepper, cocoa, and fig. Full but firm in texture with a burst of berries and spice on the palate. This wine is an ideal match for juicy roasts, savory stews, and even mom's meatloaf. If there was such a thing as comfort wine, this would be it!

Cabernet flavours are most evident on the nose, with red bell pepper, currants, cedar and mint, but the palate is where all of the other grapes from the blend come together seamlessly, each bringing a crucial component to the final wine. Plenty of dark, dusty cocoa and espresso flavours contribute to a good earthy backbone, while blackberries, black Kalamata olives, prunes and currants provide healthy fruit character. An Okanagan dusty sage element adds another layer of complexity, which becomes a slight minty element on the long, beautiful, chocolaty finish. Drink now with a premium cut of steak.

Drinking this organic, unsulfered red blend will have you walking on sunshine. Though this bottling is whimsical and lighthearted, it’s still the product of serious winemaking practices. Drinkable and refreshing, but with plenty of punch, Cherries & Rainbows hails from the South of France from an eco-friendly winery. This is truly an artisanal product - the perfect fit for the wine drinker who’s in search of sustainably farmed, small-lot bottlings. A Grenache/Syrah/Mourvèdre that’s brought up in concrete tanks with no sulfur added, it has energetic fruit, herb, and forest floor notes. It’s a wine that will keep you coming back for more - or as the kids these days say:
