Dark Rum

While it may look like Goslings Black Seal Rum is packaged in black glass, the bottle is actually clear. This is a rich and extremely dark rum that is a rich, deep amber color when poured. While pleasantly aromatic, Black Seal really distinguishes itself on the palate. Full-bodied and highly textured, it has delightfully full rummy flavors of vanilla, molasses, caramel and toast. A bit darker in the nose, more treacle and molasses but leavened with bright notes of vanilla parfait, leather, toffee and dark spices, earth. Similar in taste to the Anejo, it's a bit richer and darker in tone and taste. Kula Dark Rum was distilled and blended with the classic Hawaiian Mai Tai in mind. It is 95 proof to help it float perfectly on top, but brings some serious flavor to the cocktail. Although we suggest using it on your best Mai Tai, KULA Dark is not a one-dimensional ingredient for cocktails. Already a gold medal winner at the 2016 New York World Wine and Spirits Competition, Maggie's Farm La Revuelta is our unique dark rum, one made more in a traditional Caribbean style where we actually blended the rum. In this case, we mixed our raw cane pot-distilled rum from Pittsburgh in a 50/50 proportion with a column-distilled molasses rum from Trinidad. This produced a rum with the smoothness of an aged column-distilled rum, but with the body and flavor of a younger pot-distilled rum while maintaining a reasonable pricepoint and allowing us to continue properly aging our own Single Barrel rum without interruption.
