At the heart of Appleton Estate Reserve Jamaica Rum lies two very old and rare marques of rum set to age in oak barrels. This very small batch of “Reserve Stock” Rum is monitored carefully through to maturity. Appleton Estate 12-Year Rum is a blend of several rums aged between 12 and 18 years in American oak barrels after being distilled using small-batch copper pot stills. The rum is produced on the Appleton Estate, which sits in the Nassau Valley in Jamaica. The estate’s origins date back as far as 1655 when the English overthrew the Spanish to rule the island and Frances Dickinson, grandfather of the distillery’s founders, received the land as a reward for his role in the overthrow.

This rum represents the distinctively flavorful and aromatic style that made Jamaica rum famous in the late 19th and early 20th century. Containing only Wedderburn and Plummer pot still distillates, famous for their notes of exotic fruits and spice, it delivers a tour de force of flavour and complexity that historically made Jamaica rum a cornerstone of many classic drinks. The mark of Smith & Cross traces its lineage to 1788 as one of England’s oldest producers of sugar and spirits. Rum-Bar Silver offers the full Jamaican rum flavor experience, but at an approachable 40% abv. To craft this rum, we blend three of our own different unaged rum marks, with fermentation times ranging from 30 hours up to 3 weeks. J.Wray Silver is a smooth and light-bodied white rum that unlike many other white rums, is aged and then filtered slowly through special charcoal filters. Its mixability makes it the perfect complement to soda, fruit juices or tonic water.

Like the label says this is white overproof rum. Known for its high ester pot still rum, this is the first rum from Hampden to be bottled in Jamaica for the local market. Most of the rum produced at Hampden is sold to blenders in Europe and South Africa where it is blended with other lighter rums and bottled.

Ten To One Caribbean White Rum is a blended rum made from Dominican column still rum and Jamaican pot still rum. After blending the rums are finished in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. No added sugar, colors, or flavorings added.

Centuries ago, when the merchants of Amsterdam sailed home from their journey through the Caribbean trade routes, they discovered that the barrels of rum on their ships had taken on a richer flavor and aroma from what they had tasted at the onset. These Dutch merchants, after which Denizen’ Merchant’s Reserve is named, began to experiment with blending these aged Caribbean rums with the most special blends being reserved for the finest batches they sold throughout Europe. The Denizen Merchant’s Reserve is a blend of 8 year Plummer style Jamaican rums and a rare component of 8 year Rhum Grande Arome from Le Galion on the island of Martinique. According to respected rum cocktail historians, these two styles of rum were blended together by Trader Vic Bergeron in his original 1944 Mai Tai recipe. Le Galion is the lone distillery in Martinique still producing the unique molasses based Rhum Grande Arôme used in our blend, giving Denizen Merchant’s Reserve the distinction of being the first historically accurate Mai Tai rum to be sold commercially.
