Paul John's second iteration of their Christmas Edition is matured in ex-bourbon casks and finished for 2 years in Pedro Ximenez casks. House Tully, located at Riverrun, rules as the lord of The River lands. The power of water flows through both House Tully and The Singleton of Glendullan Select as it is made on the banks of the River Fiddich in the wooded hills of Dufftown. Spey River Rum Cask Finish has been matured in traditional American oak casks until it has achieved the perfect balance of flavours. Only then, the whisky is transferred into used rum casks to allow the secondary maturation which adds to its complex character and refined depth of flavour.

A deep gold color. On the nose perfumed tones, sweet, with a whiff of smoke. On the palate medium smooth body showing round, warming, malty flavors, with delicate peaty undertones. The finish is long, fruity and smooth.

Hechiceros, a Single Malt expression finished in port casks, roughly translates in English as “sorcerers” and boasts notes of juicy fruit, bread pudding, & tres leches cake.

Aged in bourbon barrels in the heat and humidity of India’s tropical paradise of Goa. Sweet honey and dusky cocoa aromas are laced with a hint of smokiness and notes of espresso. A deeper whiff reveals fruity fragrances, spice, and mocha. Grassy flavors of barley show up first, but gently make way for subtle and balanced notes of imported Islay and Highland peat. Finishes with a rush of mint and mocha.

Dark amber in color, Oban Little Bay has a rich and vibrant malty nose with dried apple, dried plums, caramel, honey, allspice, and oak. There’s a solid balance between the rich and spicy characteristics. The entry is very flavorful and expressive, matching the nose quite well with toasted malt, green apple, dried apricot, salt, chocolate, and orange peel. In the midpalate the real impact of the small cask finish is quite apparent as the spice elements noticeably increase with clove and oak without abandoning the sweet dried fruit underneath. After the peak of the midpalate, Oban Little Bay backs off quite a bit for a lightly acidic and slightly spicy finish. It’s a fairly light and slightly dry finish that ends fairly clean.
