This is southern Alberta, so let's talk crops! The hardiest of cereals, rye outperforms all other cover crops on infertile, sandy or acidic soil or on poorly prepared land. Nature can be a ruthless machine on the bald prairie, but our farmers have learned to ryes against the machine! This tough little grain adds character and complexity to our beer, bringing bready and spicy notes to a classic Rye style. Ryes Against the Machine is our tribute to autumn, hard working harvesters, and the rich agricultural heritage of Medicine Hat.

Early settlers knew Sylvan Lake as Snake Lake, taken from the Cree name, Kinabik. Garter snakes would swarm around its shores, especially at Jarvis Bay. As the human population grew, the snakes gradually disappeared. In 1903, the town's name was officially changed to Sylvan Lake.

The Belgian Witbier has been synonymous with warm weather and the great outdoors since the thirteenth century. Our take on this historic style pours a hazy off-white, with bright citrus and herbaceous notes from the use of coriander seeds, unmalted wheat, orange peel, and other unique aromatics.
