In 1875, the botanist Dottore Francesco Peloni developed in the mountain region Bormio, Lombardy the original recipe for the Amaro Braulio. The ingredients for the use of this unique Amaro are exclusively fresh herbs and spring water from the mountain region Valtellina. The herbs are dried at the fresh mountain air and then fermented with spring water and alcohol a month. The hand-made high-quality product gets, additionally, maturation for 2 years in oak barrels - the only Amaro in the word to do so.

The high-quality approach to this wine begins in the vineyard as it is made from a strict selection of Corvina, Rondinella, Croatina, and Oseleta grapes grown in the Sant’ Ambrogio district. The grapes were harvested in September and October and dried for four months before fermentation. After being aged for 36 months in large barrels, the wine was refined for several months in bottle. Ruby red in color, this Amarone Riserva offers dense and smokey aromas of dark cherries, raisins, chocolate, and anise, framed by fruity tannins and a spicy finish. With the level of complexity and balance that this wine shows, it will evolve beautifully for 10+ years. Pair this wine with Beef Wellington, demi-glaces, fegato alla veneziana, or grilled red meat.

Luigi-Righetti-Amarone-della-Valpolicella-Classico-Capitel-De-Roari
Located in Valgatara, in the depths of Valpolicella Classico, sits the family-run Luigi Righetti estate. Since 1909, when Angelo Righetti first earned a reputation as an outstanding winemaker, the family has focused on producing quality wines of distinction. Gianmaria and Giuseppe are the fourth generation of the Righetti family to carry on the family winemaking tradition. Gianmaria and Giuseppe’s father, Luigi, who is still active in the estate’s day-to-day operations, was the first in the family to consider production for consumers beyond the local market. Gian Maria has gone a step further by crafting wines with a more international flair. The land, rich in chalky clay, and the sun are key elements that encourage the accumulation of sugar and flavor within. The grapes are picked in bunches during the month of September, and placed on mats to dry until January, February. The wine is then placed in steel basins until July or August. It is then aged for 3 years, partly in oak barrels and partly in French barriques. Capitel de Roari is a premium Amarone, coming from the best grape selection, and receiving delicate oak treatment. This is a well-balanced Amarone that still exhibits much of the dark fruit flavors, earth and meaty components expected of Valpolicella. This wine complements steak or pork roasts, hearty pastas and seasonal cheeses. Enjoy!

Corte-Giara-Amarone-della-Valpolicella
Intense and inviting ruby red. The characteristic hints of cherries and pepper are particularly enjoyable in this wine, followed by subtle nuances of officinal herbs. Dry and well-balanced. The traditional acidic note combines well with the softness of the fruit to form a satisfying contrast and produce a supple, feisty wine. Perfect fit for braised meats, wild game particularly hare, duck a l’orange, aged cheeses, or even try it with European lobster in tomato sauce.
