The Vecchio Marone is made of 80% Corvina and 20% Molinara, and is an exceptional value for a rich, smooth, black cherry fruit-driven Amarone. Amarone della Valpolicella is a rich Italian dry red wine made from the partially dried grapes of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara, in varying percentages.

Located in Valgatara, in the depths of Valpolicella Classico, sits the family-run Luigi Righetti estate. Since 1909, when Angelo Righetti first earned a reputation as an outstanding winemaker, the family has focused on producing quality wines of distinction. Gianmaria and Giuseppe are the fourth generation of the Righetti family to carry on the family winemaking tradition. Gianmaria and Giuseppe’s father, Luigi, who is still active in the estate’s day-to-day operations, was the first in the family to consider production for consumers beyond the local market. Gian Maria has gone a step further by crafting wines with a more international flair. The land, rich in chalky clay, and the sun are key elements that encourage the accumulation of sugar and flavor within. The grapes are picked in bunches during the month of September, and placed on mats to dry until January, February. The wine is then placed in steel basins until July or August. It is then aged for 3 years, partly in oak barrels and partly in French barriques. Capitel de Roari is a premium Amarone, coming from the best grape selection, and receiving delicate oak treatment. This is a well-balanced Amarone that still exhibits much of the dark fruit flavors, earth and meaty components expected of Valpolicella. The first kosher Amarone! Amarone undergoes a very unique process prior to fermentation. In late October, grapes are harvested and allowed to dry for around 120 days. Known as the “appassimento” technique, the drying process traditionally occurs on straw mats or in temperature controlled drying chambers. This process helps concentrate the juices and increases skin contact, giving the wine a very ripe, full-bodied flavor. There is no other wine like it! The unique flavors of Amarone, including dark chocolate, coffee, dark fruit and light notes of cherry, pair beautifully with steak, stews, and bold cheeses.

Intense and inviting ruby red. The characteristic hints of cherries and pepper are particularly enjoyable in this wine, followed by subtle nuances of officinal herbs. Dry and well-balanced. The traditional acidic note combines well with the softness of the fruit to form a satisfying contrast and produce a supple, feisty wine. Roccolo Grassi Amarone is a wine of great structure and softness. Its aim is to feature great balance, finesse and complexity. Here tannins are very sweet but appreciable with good length and depth. Its colour is an intense ruby red; hints of cherry, red berries , plum, spice, tobacco and herbs are noticeable on the nose. It’s a very fine wine, complex , where the aromas perceived on the nose, and yet again in the mouth, become more defined, intricate and finer with time. With its great character and personality this Amarone expresses the distinctive terroir of Roccolo Grassi vineyards, which confer inimitable notes of spices, tobacco, ripe fruit and herbs.
