We ferment raw cane syrup and blackstrap molasses with a rhum agricole yeast strain and a chenin blanc yeast strain to develop a rich tropical fruit character. Two distillations on our hybrid pot // column still take our spirit up to approximately 180 proof. This gives our White Rum a light enough body to perform in a mojito, but leaves enough fruity character to create a fruity daiquiri. Once it comes off the still, we add filtered water, run it through a charcoal filter, then bottle it by hand at our distillery in Northeast DC.

Borough is our limited series of straight bourbons finished in rare casks. Batch No.3 is a five year old, high rye bourbon that we rested in 50 year old Armagnac casks. Coming in at 88 proof, you’ll taste hints of honey, marzipan, vanilla and warm leather.

Joseph Magnus Bourbon is a marriage of straight bourbon whiskey aged in white oak and finished in Oloroso sherry, Pedro Ximénez and Cognac casks. Rich and deep notes of vanilla, citrus, dark chocolate, brown sugar and dark stone fruits deliver with a lingering, warm finish.

District of Columbia- Straight bourbon whiskey finished in Armagnac, sherry, and cognac casks. Nancy Fraley's cigar blend assumes bold, rich aromas of tobacco, spice, leather, vanilla, blanched almonds, and toffee. Notes of fig, prune, and dried apricot.

Untitled Whiskey No. 7 is our first cask strength release. Featuring a blend of whiskeys finished in Port and Cognac casks, No. 7 announces itself with aromas of candied fruit and a hint of fresh orange peel. The palate opens with hot buttery toffee and maple syrup proceeding to spiced fruits and oak and finishes with notes of chocolate mint.

We got the trademark on Rodham Rye last March when we, like much of the country, thought the 2016 election results would be different. After the results came in we were faced with the decision to change course, or persist. So, we charged forward and made Rodham Rye a tribute to all the women who came before us- the women who fought for the right to vote and to repeal prohibition, who run for office and start new businesses. A portion of the proceeds from each bottle go to recruiting and training women to run for office.

Untitled Whiskey No. 6 is a nine year-old high-rye bourbon blended and finished in Cognac, Muscat, and Oloroso sherry casks here at the distillery. The nose hints of leather, French oak, vanilla and dried apricots. Opening with Cognac and spice forward rye on the palate, the bourbon gives way to sweeter notes of maple, raisins and blackberries.

Vigilant Navy Strength Gin is crafted from 100% corn distillate, steeped and distilled with family made harissa, figs, fresh mint, fresh lemon, hops, and hibiscus. It features dried, 4 year old Italian juniper berries and packs a punch at 114 Proof.

Full, round, and friendly. Sip neat or use in fuller, heavier rum cocktails. We rest our White Rum in used bourbon barrels from other local distilleries for several months to pick up color, weight, and a fair amount of vanillin. Once we empty the barrel, we infuse the rum with a small amount of Sweet Woodruff, a soft green herb that contributes a delicate aroma of vanilla, hay, and tea.
