Switchback Ale was developed as a flavor concept, not adhering to any style guidelines. Using only traditional ingredients, Switchback Ale is an unfiltered, reddish-amber ale which is particularly well-balanced, allowing for complexity of flavor coupled with an unusually smooth and refreshing character. Five different malts, select hop varieties, and our own specially cultivated yeast create an ale which leads with hop fl¬avors and a subtle impression of fruit (our yeast’s contribution), followed by a palate pleasing malty finish.

Uncanny Valley is an IPA hopped with Vic Secret and Citra hops. The bold new hop variety's have a high oil content for a huge flavor impact of Ripe Mango, Pine Needles, Watermelon, and Stone fruit. The hop flavors wash over a balanced malt bill to hold up the bold hops.

Every once in a while you know you stumble upon something glorious. That something just so happens to be our Private Reserve Pumpkin. We have combined our signature taste with a refreshing pumpkin finish. Limited to just two and half hours on the production line this is a true connoisseur's cider.

Our brewers developed this recipe for more than a year; playing around with yeast strains and hop combinations in search of a smooth, juicy offering that pleases palates. With VT IPA they found the perfect balance of tropical fruit and citrus flavors through a heavy dry-hopping of Citra and Amarillo hops, which give distinct tangerine, mango, pineapple and grapefruit character. The juicy hop profile is complemented by the grist, which features a heavy hand of flaked oats and aromatic Munich malt to deliver a smooth mouthfeel and hazy appearance. What sets this beer apart --aside from the soft bitterness-- is the introduction of a new yeast strain that provides the beer with more neutral notes and juicy esters that enhance the hops. Elaborate Metaphor is our take on a new New England style Pale Ale brewed with Citra and Amarillo hops. Brewed with Barley, Flaked Oats, Wheat, and Raw Wheat

This monster of an India Pale Ale will make you pucker up! Loaded with high-alpha US grown Summit, Amarillo, Centennial and Cascadian hops. A brawny, dry hopped ale is wicked strong and will terrorize your taste buds, but has enough malt backbone to balance the intense bitterness.

Brewed with maple syrup and cold brew coffee, this wonderfully complex stout starts with a rich smooth coffee flavor, then eludes to a dark chocolate character, and finishes a hit of sweetness.

At Hermit Thrush Brewery, we encourage the reduction of waste in any way that we can. In looking at historical brewing processes, we were intrigued by the Parti-gyle style of brewing where the mash from a strong beer is used a second time to make the wort for a lower-alcohol small beer. In honor of the style, we named the beer Party Guy, and will continue to use the name for our experiments in exciting new small beers.
