Brewed with coriander, bitter orange peel and malted wheat, Alaskan White Ale has a light and crisp body pleasant tartness followed by slightly spicy aftertaste. The malted wheat gives the beer a more full and lightly malty mouthfeel. There is an aroma and flavor of wheat and coriander, with a dry and refreshingly carbonated finish.

Double IPA aged in French oak Chardonnay barrels with Brett. Deep within the tortured aberrations of a monk’s mind there lay a concept of a Holy Grail of beer — a beer oft imagined but never tasted, strived for but never achieved. It’s Belgian heritage manifested in its yeasty complexity, softened and rounded in its cooperage Français and made to sparkle like the stars first seen by his distant predecessor Dom Pérignon. Bitter Monk Belgian Double IPA is such a beer.

It begins with a soft and spicy floral nose. The brett notes are measured and reverberate around the lemon-cream-pie hops like ripples around a buoy in a beam sea. Wood notes drift and float by and bring a bit of vanilla toward the end but mostly the wood does the important work of softening the heat of a multi-phase fermentation that is three fathoms deep.

One of the new trails being blazed on the frontier of beer is the style known as White India Pale Ales. Galaxy White IPA represents a significant new landmark on that trail. With its use of fresh kumquats, Indian coriander, and black peppercorns, Galaxy pays homage to the early explorers, who sailed unknown seas in search of rare spices and exotic fruits. Captain Cook travelled from Australia to Alaska, and so have the Galaxy hops used to create this adventurous brew. Just as a true explorer never stands still, the presence of brettanomyces guarantees that Galaxy White IPA will keep evolving in the bottle for years to come.

Midnight Sun's Fallen Angel Golden Ale is a traditional Belgian-style golden strong ale--deep gold in color with tiny, conniving bubbles forming a very thick, meticulous head. Effervescent and crisp, this delicious ale tempts the palate with apple, pear and a little earthy mustiness. Its beauty and brightness is angel-like in appearance but the devil in is its strength.

Here's a beer that you will only taste if you are coming to the Culmimatiom. It's a 14.6 imperial stout aged in A single Laphroaig cask brewed for my brewing partner Steve Marshall. It's for his 60th birthday and will not be sold.
