Wine in Okanagan Falls

Straw yellow colour and beautiful clarity. The nose is very youthful and jumps out with banana and papaya. Honey and lemon mingle with pear and honeydew melon. The palate is focused and precise, with more refreshing citrus-driven acidity than in 2016. Tropical fruit in the mid-palate and crisp lingering finish. This wine screams for shellfish.

Riesling: with its mouthwatering acidity, a hint of sweetness, and moderate alcohol levels, can be the ultimate example of balance in wine. It is therefore extremely flexible when it comes to pairing with a wide range of foods. The balance between sugar and acid also allows Riesling to support delicious aromas and flavours of citrus and tropical fruit, flowers, and spice. The greatest mouth-watering examples I know originate in Germany, and it was Germans who brought the first Riesling to the Okanagan Valley. We make this wine in a Spätlese style; off-dry enough to keep it mouth-wateringly juicy. It is our goal each vintage to increase the flavour intensity in this case using 40 year-old vines and six months of lees contact in order to create a wine of great complexity that will be long-lived.

Cabernet flavours are most evident on the nose, with red bell pepper, currants, cedar and mint, but the palate is where all of the other grapes from the blend come together seamlessly, each bringing a crucial component to the final wine. Plenty of dark, dusty cocoa and espresso flavours contribute to a good earthy backbone, while blackberries, black Kalamata olives, prunes and currants provide healthy fruit character. An Okanagan dusty sage element adds another layer of complexity, which becomes a slight minty element on the long, beautiful, chocolaty finish. Drink now with a premium cut of steak.

Two of the classic Bordeaux varieties in an exciting pairing for Hillside. Spiced mocha jumps out of the glass on the first sniff—then a hint of orange rind mingles with the fresh dark fruits. On the palate, the fine-grained tannins lead into a generous and juicy finish.

The perfect patio sipper – an off dry Rosé! This wine draws you in from the first sip. Gushing with big, luscious, fruit flavors of wild strawberry and watermelon to start. Midway, it unravels with pomegranate, jasmine, and a hint of deep dark cherry creates a smooth, approachable and perhaps a slightly sinful finish. Temped yet?

Black currant, chocolate, vanilla and toast are evident in this expressive nose. This full bodied Merlot provides harmonious flavours of black cherry, plum and a touch of spice as the finish lingers against fine round tannins.

Pale lemon in the glass, honeysuckle, grass, citrus, pear and melon mingle together on the nose. The palate is dry with surprisingly complex with beautifully balanced acidity, lovely weight and mid-palate texture, along with its characteristic stony mineral note. This wine is made for fresh, sustainable, BC seafood, including freshly shucked oysters on the half shell, wild BC spot prawns, mussels and ceviche. We also recommend pairing with local goat cheese salads.

There are aromas of dark cherries, dark plums, hints of stewed strawberries, and an undertone of smoky oak. The palate has flavours of spiced cherries, warm strawberries, and some vanilla notes. The tannins are medium with a long finish with the flavours persisting long after the last sip.

A classic Bordeaux style blend of estate grapes; 50% Merlot, 32% Petit Verdot, and 18% Cabernet Sauvignon. With intense dark colour, this mouth-watering Meritage incorporates well integrated silky tannins and a luscious mouthfeel, expressing the wine’s fine aging ability. With aromas of pepper, dried fig, cherry, dark fruit, cassis, followed by flavours that hint of licorice, leather, chocolate and smoke. Using a combination of American and French oak this wine is great now, incredible in 5 years time!

The aromatics begin with yellow peach, lemon, and jasmine. The mouthfeel exudes flavours of green apple, fresh pineapple, lime, and a pleasant creaminess from oak aging. The finish lingers on this medium-bodied wine.

Aromas of wild strawberries, anise and black tea abound. On the palate, earthy tones, plums, and toasted almonds come through. There's a vibrant acidity with soft tannins making this medium-bodied wine elegant.

Chasselas was the first vinifera grape planted on our estate and has a long history at the property. As one of the most iconic wines at Quails’ Gate, this white blend is made in a fresh, fruit-forward style to complement those long summer days. Deep garnet red colour. Nose is a touch delicate in its youth, but shows a beautiful balance of fresh red berry fruit, preserved cherries and orange rind with clove. Palate is focused with spicy oak and grenadine up front. It then lls out the mid palate with cherry pie sweetness before nishing with ne tannins that carry the fruit sweetness nicely. Will reward some short/mid-term cellaring.

Cabernet Sauvignon from the Similkameen Valley is picked at optimum ripeness for a rich, bold wine. Tasting Notes: Aromas of raspberry, blueberry & chocolate, with smooth tannins giving way to a round & juicy finish. Pairing Notes: A fantastic match for lamb & wild game.

Our RIGAMAROLE Rosé menagerie of (what else?!) pink dolphins and flamingos is chock full of the fanciful and big on the outlandish. What makes them pink? Well, food and physiology actually…but that matters less than the delicious aromatic pink wine that they inspire. A blend of varietals, led by Merlot but also including Cabernet Sauvignon, mingle so perfectly in our wonderfully engaging dry style rosé wine. Rigamarole Rosé is perfectly paired with a patio! Sip this on its own or pair with Asian dishes, roasted veggies and grilled fare.

Tasting Note: Plums, red cherries, red currants, and a hint of spice on the nose. The palate has lots of plums, cranberries, and red currants with a subtle undertone of oak notes. The acid is lively with medium to soft tannins and a medium finish. Food Pairing: This versatile, medium-bodied Merlot pairs well with hearty stews and chili dishes and delicious Italian favourites.

Vanilla, coconut, pineapple, and toffee aromas fill out the aromatic profile, while on the palate, you will notice essence of citrus, toffee, and caramel.
