Wine in British Columbia

Cabernet flavours are most evident on the nose, with red bell pepper, currants, cedar and mint, but the palate is where all of the other grapes from the blend come together seamlessly, each bringing a crucial component to the final wine. Plenty of dark, dusty cocoa and espresso flavours contribute to a good earthy backbone, while blackberries, black Kalamata olives, prunes and currants provide healthy fruit character. An Okanagan dusty sage element adds another layer of complexity, which becomes a slight minty element on the long, beautiful, chocolaty finish. Drink now with a premium cut of steak.

Riesling: with its mouthwatering acidity, a hint of sweetness, and moderate alcohol levels, can be the ultimate example of balance in wine. It is therefore extremely flexible when it comes to pairing with a wide range of foods. The balance between sugar and acid also allows Riesling to support delicious aromas and flavours of citrus and tropical fruit, flowers, and spice. The greatest mouth-watering examples I know originate in Germany, and it was Germans who brought the first Riesling to the Okanagan Valley. We make this wine in a Spätlese style; off-dry enough to keep it mouth-wateringly juicy. It is our goal each vintage to increase the flavour intensity in this case using 40 year-old vines and six months of lees contact in order to create a wine of great complexity that will be long-lived.

Straw yellow colour and beautiful clarity. The nose is very youthful and jumps out with banana and papaya. Honey and lemon mingle with pear and honeydew melon. The palate is focused and precise, with more refreshing citrus-driven acidity than in 2016. Tropical fruit in the mid-palate and crisp lingering finish. This wine screams for shellfish.

Our Reserve Shiraz is inky in colour with aromas of dark fruits, violet, and peppercorn. This vintage is full-bodied with flavours of Bing cherries, rosemary, anise, and brambleberry.

At its best, cool-climate Pinot Noir is bright, focused, and elegant by nature. In a hot vintage, this Pinot Noir can also be powerful and incredibly perfumed and complex. While we draw our inspiration from the wines of Burgundy, it is the lesser-known villages of Fixin, Santenay, and Mercurey that are most influential. Our Reserve Pinot Noir is a clonal selection, with the grapes sourced from select vineyard sites on the Naramata Bench and Summerland. These vineyards have been chosen for their qualities belonging to the smaller berried Dijon clones, and we have supplemented their tendencies for finer tannins and floral aroma through meticulous canopy management and low yields. Our approach to this wine is vineyard based and, as such, our winemaking process is relatively simple. We employ a clean, simple ferment followed by a gentle pressing, and the wine is aged for 8 months in select Burgundian barriques. The wine is further aged for twelve months in bottle before release.

Our Reserve Red Wine has black pepper and boysenberry on the nose, followed by flavours of plum, blackberry, and a touch of sage. Oak barrel aging rounded out the silky tannins and seamlessly integrated this wine.

A combination of richness, creamy texture and finely woven bright acidity anchors the pear, lemon curd and baking spice flavours. The 2013 Perpetua shows an alluring purity and seamless integration of all the elements, with good length and intensity.

The Brut “Gold Label” has a fine mousse, with lemon and toasty character on the nose and across the palate, with a crisp lemon finish. The wine is made in the Methode Traditionnelle style.

The puzzling complexity of terroir, oak ageing, vintages and those ridiculous descriptors is just too much. Our RIGAMAROLE™ Red menagerie is loaded with the barely believable: Dancing Rhinos, Elephants eating soup, and what exactly is a Gibra anyhow… But that’s all there is to wonder about, because the wine itself – a fabulous mix led by Merlot but also including Gamay and Pinot Noir – is simply delicious.

Cabernet Sauvignon from the Similkameen Valley is picked at optimum ripeness for a rich, bold wine. Tasting Notes: Aromas of raspberry, blueberry & chocolate, with smooth tannins giving way to a round & juicy finish. Pairing Notes: A fantastic match for lamb & wild game.
