Founded over a century ago by Messrs. Sella and Mosca, two well-respected figures during the Risorgimento (Italy’s 19th-century unification movement). The property is now home to over 1,200 acres of vines. As Sardinia’s foremost wine producer, Sella & Mosca’s premium wines are made exclusively from estate-grown grapes. In addition to native varieties such as Vermentino, Torbato and Cannonau, the winery has successfully pioneered the introduction of international grape varieties, notably Cabernet Sauvignon.

La Mora, "meaning horse" is dedicated to the history of Maremma, a coastal region with a Mediterranean climate, which used to be home to roaming cowboys on horseback. This Vermentino wine is delightful with a flavor profile that lands in between Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. Expressing hints of succulent tropical fruits, mature pulp, fresh fragrant style, and a pleasant minerality.

Vermentino Vignaerta, Golfo del Tigullio: a more elegant expression of Vermentino, leaner than the Intrigoso” but with great complexity, showing bright acidity, brilliant length and strong minerality leavened by notes of citrus, almond, and licorice; the grapes for this cuvée are sourced from the slopes of the Campegli vineyard located in the village of Castiglione Chiavarese; approximately 100 cases per year are exported for our use in the USA.

This is 100% Vermentino coming from south and southeast-facing parcels with schist and sandy soils. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks, then aged 6 months on its lees in cement vats with regular batonnage and bottled after a light filtration. This is a delicious representation of the Vermentino grape, with its stone fruits and minerality.

The Mazzei family, owners of Chianti Classico’s highly esteemed Castello di Fonterutoli, took the helm at the Belguardo estate in the 1990s after recognizing the area’s potential for quality winemaking. Pale straw yellow with greenish reflections, very bright. The nose has fragrant hints of green apple and banana, followed by a light floral jasmine, aromatic herbs and walnut husk, all under a mineral flint background. The gustatory attack is soft and dry, enveloping and warm in the alcoholic sensation, with a good taste balance between the mineral sapidity and the sweetness of the fruit, in a persistent finish of bitter almond.

Intense notes of pink grapefruit and lemon with hints of spices and bread crust. It is refreshing and round on the palate with a very pleasant finish.

100% Vermentinu from the limestone soils mentioned above, it is fermented naturally in stainless steel before being racked into cement vats. One of the vats went through malolactic fermentation, the other didn’t, and the tanks were blended after 5 months for bottling. Very low SO2.
