A jewel in the Mediterranean, Sardinia is a rustic and enchantingly beautiful island with extreme geography and vinous diversity to tempt travelers and wine enthusiasts alike. La Mora, "meaning horse" is dedicated to the history of Maremma, a coastal region with a Mediterranean climate, which used to be home to roaming cowboys on horseback. This Vermentino wine is delightful with a flavor profile that lands in between Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. Expressing hints of succulent tropical fruits, mature pulp, fresh fragrant style, and a pleasant minerality.

In Italian, Casamatta translates to "crazy house". This moniker, self-designated by super-Tuscan winemaker, Bibi Graetz, is an homage to his very home-cum-winery-cum-art gallery. This fantastic place serves as home, winery, and art studio complete with kids, farm animals, barrels, grapes, and colorfully painted canvasses. Hence, Casamatta is a place where chaos meets life in a place where love of family, love of winemaking, and love of art all take place. It is here, where Bibi artfully crafts his Casamatta wines.

Bailiwick-Vermentino-2013
Our 2013 Vermentino highlights this varietal’s unique qualities which makes it a perfect complement to seafood and lighter Mediterranean-type meals. 47.5% of the blend originates from the Sunnybrook Vineyard in San Luis Opisbo county, providing a foundation of ripe apple and pineapple flavors. Lovett Vineyard, in the Red Hills of Lake County AVA, contributes the other 52.5%, with bright acidity and light citrus notes. The resulting blend rewards with a delightful citrusy, herbal nose, a full mouthfeel, followed by refreshing acidity at the finish. This wine is best served well-chilled, and when paired with simply prepared grilled fish, it evokes great dinners in port side restaurants along the beautiful coast of Italy. It takes us there every time.

This is just plain fun! Color is pale straw with an edge of green; clarity is remarkably bright for an unfiltered wine. Nose leads off with a beguiling mix of citrus leaf, mint, and green almond. Palate weight is medium, possessing a touch of salinity that pops the bright acidity with a nice mouthwatering zip. Flavor profile is balancing right on the intersection of citrus and stone fruit (my happy place). The finish rolls out with silky viscosity, a rumor of pineapple, and memory of daffodil.

Maris-Vermentino-Vin-de-France
Very mineral like all Vermentinos, beautiful notes of peach and a fleshy mid palate. Irresistible and a great aperitif wine. Maris is produced on the foothills of the Black Mountains near Carcassonne, where the Mediterranean Sea, France, Spain and the Pyrenees mountain range come together. Its limestone terraces facing the Aude river valley are perfectly suited for growing world class Syrah and Grenache. Preciously crafted by Robert Eden, Maris offers great value wines made with organic grapes. Robert Eden is a recognized authority on Organic and Biodynamic viticulture, giving lectures on the need to reduce the negative impact on the environment from non-sustainable farming. “There are organic, sustainable and environmentally minded winemakers, and then there’s Robert Eden. No one in France can compete.” Wine Enthusiast

Vermentino Vignaerta, Golfo del Tigullio: a more elegant expression of Vermentino, leaner than the Intrigoso” but with great complexity, showing bright acidity, brilliant length and strong minerality leavened by notes of citrus, almond, and licorice; the grapes for this cuvée are sourced from the slopes of the Campegli vineyard located in the village of Castiglione Chiavarese; approximately 100 cases per year are exported for our use in the USA.

This is 100% Vermentino coming from south and southeast-facing parcels with schist and sandy soils. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks, then aged 6 months on its lees in cement vats with regular batonnage and bottled after a light filtration. This is a delicious representation of the Vermentino grape, with its stone fruits and minerality.

Belguardo-Vermentino
100% Vermentino. Subtle stone-fruit and mineral hints on the nose. Pleasant yellow peach, jasmine and wet stone notes greet the front palate. Power and freshness define Belguardo wines, from the estate’s structured Bordeaux blend to the refreshing, bright Vermentino. The ability to produce such diverse wines is owed to the Maremma, where Belguardo lies, six miles in from the Tuscan coastline bordering the Tyrrhenian Sea. The Mazzei family, owners of Chianti Classico’s highly esteemed Castello di Fonterutoli, took the helm at the Belguardo estate in the 1990s after recognizing the area’s potential for quality winemaking. In the years since, the Mazzei family has established Belguardo among the top producers in this exciting, fast emerging wine region. 89pts Vinous 9/17 2015V

Pale straw yellow with greenish reflections, very bright. The nose has fragrant hints of green apple and banana, followed by a light floral jasmine, aromatic herbs and walnut husk, all under a mineral flint background. The gustatory attack is soft and dry, enveloping and warm in the alcoholic sensation, with a good taste balance between the mineral sapidity and the sweetness of the fruit, in a persistent finish of bitter almond.
