Revolver Brewing Blood and Honey

Revolver-Brewing-Blood-and-Honey
A local U-Pick farmer down the road from the brewery dropped by with a bucket of crystallized honey and asked us if we could do anything useful with it. Brewmaster, Grant Wood inspected the honey and the beautiful color reminded him of blood oranges which were in season at the time, and the amazing aroma brought him back to a previous desert recipe he made – blood orange sorbet with graham cracker and spice. This was the foundation of his inspiration for the blood honey beer. An unfiltered deep golden ale made with malted two-row barley and wheat. This American beer is finished with blood orange zest, Texas honey and other spices that bring special flavors to this unique craft beer. This blood and honey beer is ready for all seasons. Drinkable for summer picnics, full flavored for fall tailgating, subtly spicy for holiday treats, and refreshing for warm springtime events.

At DEBC, we like hops, but we like American hops most of all. Here we use some of our absolute favorites. However, they might not be used like you may expect, by using varieties with high alpha acid contents (which means more potential for bitterness) and using them in ways that emphasize the flavor and aroma we can render a rather bitter ale with over the top tropical fruit, citrus, pine, floral and more hop derived aroma and flavor.

It's a job! And a hazardous one at that. Benefits, you ask? I hardly think so. But the show must go on. So, it's with bravado that the Rodeo Clown takes his place in the arena lights. Whether or not he's insane is not important right now. It's with grit and intensity that the Clown steps in the path of almost certain destruction.

Real-Ale-Axis-IPA
Brewed for tap walls overrun with the white noise of West Coast IPA's, here’s an offering so exotic, you’d think it was from another world. Like its namesake before it, the axis deer of Southern Asia, so too has this species (beverage?) of hop-forward animal magnetism come to invade the landscape of IPA’s that have long held sway over the taps of Texas’s finest watering holes. Tropical fruit, citrus, and a pale golden body, help keep this breed light on its feet. And with few natural predators there is little anyone can do to stop the spread. IPA may not have been born in Texas, but it will soon seem as native as the sky that stretches between its borders.
