We brewed The Fear with a local pumpkin puree and secret blend of spices. But once you take a sniff and a sip, those spices become quite apparent. (Hint: Think pumpkin pie.) Anything seasonally spicy or sweet will beautifully complement this rich and complex brew.

Imagine a pumpkin vine wound its way in a field of barley, and a brewer harvested it all to make a beer. Add Northwestern hops and a blend of spices, and you've got UFO Pumpkin. This pumpkin ale is brewed with organic pumpkins grown by Will and Judy Stevens, of Golden Russet Farm in Shoreham, VT, less than 15 miles away from our brewery. Pour is dark orange with 1/2 finger of foam and little lace left behind. Smell is all fruit. Cranberry is most prominent with lemon and grapefruit in the background. Taste very tart with a sour cranberry taste. Honey and lemon and grapefruit mix well with the cranberry and sour notes. Surprisingly there is no booze to this even with the high abv. Smooth finish gives it amazing drinkability. This may open a door for me into more fruit type beers. Absolutely amazing brew. Well done by DFH

Before the German Purity Law "Reinheitsgebot" of 1516 it was common practice to use any kind of different spices, herbs, fruits and other plants to provide balance to beer. Hops was not yet well known at this time. Grut bier has roots in many cultures and each culture had it’s own “special ingredients": Egyptians, Native Americans, Arabian Tribes, Gaulles, Germanic Tribes and the Vikings. This interpretation of a traditional Grut Bier is spiced with Lorbeer (Bay Leaves), Ingwer (Ginger), Kummel (Caraway), Anis (Anise), Rosemarin (Rosemarie) & Enzian (Gentian). Spiteful Brewing was founded in January 2010 by Brad Shaffer and Jason Klein. While the brewery is new, we have known each other since we were kids. It was a friendship that started instantly following a spiteful incident during a hockey game on the pond. Initially home brewing in the kitchen on a stove, we’ve slowly upgraded our system as we gained experience and understanding of the brewing process. We now have a Brewery from Portland Kettle Works with a 2.5 BBL Brewhouse and 5 BBL Fermenters.

We honor our Pops with this beer. His vision built the Leisure Time ice brand decades ago and inspired us to build Jack’s Abby as a family business. Leisure Time Lager is brewed with wheat and a blend of spices including lemongrass, coriander, orange peel and chamomile. A subtle spiciness balances the citrusy and floral hops added to the whirl and hopback. Relax and enjoy! Leisure Time Lager uses locally grown wheat from MA.

Mango Magnifico is a never-before-released, high-gravity fruit beer brewed with mango and Michigan-grown habaneros. Each 750mL bottle of this 10% ABV ale is intended to be shared. Not a traditional fruit beer, the delicate tropical fruit in Mango Magnifico is punctuated by a hint of heat, increasing the overall depth of flavor and adding another level of complexity. It will be a refreshing drink for the warm summer months.
