Our Driftwood Ale is an American style ESB (Extra Special Bitter). Known for its dark copper color and appeal to a wide audience, our ESB relies on balance between hops and malt for its drinkability. The Driftwood Ale will impress both beer enthusiasts and casual drinkers alike.

Hopped with Northdown and East Kent Goldings. Malt driven by Warminster floor malted Maris Otter with small amounts of Simpsons dark English crystal and a touch of Crisp Pale chocolate malt. Taste is rounded with a sweet and spicy up front flavor with a dry finish and a cleansing hop bite.

An English-style extra special bitter (ESB) ale. Hearty English malts take center stage to give this beer balanced notes of dark bread, toasted hazelnut, and a robust earthiness. The beer is then lightly hopped with Target and Challenger hops to accentuate those flavors. Despite the name, ESB’s aren’t all that bitter. An English tradition, the extra special bitter is a more hop/malt forward version of the English Bitter. Our version uses a blend of English and American hops leaving a floral and herbal character balanced by notes of toffee and biscuit from the malt.

Another fine addition to the Black Sheep Brewery range of premium bottled ales, our Holy Grail Bitter was specially commissioned to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Monty Python. It has a distinctive taste with plenty of fruity hops, and is full flavoured with a dry and refreshing bitterness.

Black Douglas was a famous Scottish Knight and trusted friend of Robert the Bruce. The Bruce and Black Douglas first met only a few miles from the site of Broughton Ales in the Scottish Borders. We like to think that the dark ruby colour and the full bodied malt flavour of this ale reflect the power and strength of this great Knight.

Brewed to be crisp and refreshing with a bit of wheat malt for body and a delicate hop finish.Cross of Gold was first brewed in founder Josh Deth's basement by Brewmaster Jim Cibak, in June 2009. Cross of Gold has taken home Gold at the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup. It remains a favorite among our employees, and is a top seller at the Brewpub and Tap Room.
