With the goal of creating authentic estate-grown wines, Double Canyon was established in the heart of Horse Heaven Hills in 2007. Our focus is crafting Cabernet Sauvignon that expresses the individuality of our namesake vineyard and captures the distinct character of Washington State’s best appellations. Red Mountain benefits from heat, low rainfall, and sandy loam and gravel soils that produce highly concentrated fruit. This wine offers textural dimension, power, and intensity. From fragrant notes of strawberries, boysenberries, earth and toasted woods to richly layered flavors of cherries, currants and anise, it demonstrates vibrancy and a long, lifted finish along with firm tannins that will allow it to mature gracefully for years to come.

The Shiraz displays aromas of ripe red fruit and luscious raspberry jam. Notes of leather, pepper and a touch of honey lead in to a long-lasting finish.

The 2013 vintage in Yakima Valley was hotter than normal through most of the growing season. Long, warm days sped up the ripening process through the end of August, and abruptly came to a screeching halt in early September. From this point until harvest, the late ripening varietals gained full flavors without excessive sugar accumulations. After barrel aging and bottling, it became readily apparent that 2013 was an exceptional vintage for the Bordeaux varietals. The massive ripe flavors are beautifully balanced with nice acidity and gorgeous aromas. This is a vintage that will improve for over a decade, or possibly even two, with cool cellaring. Aged 10 months in French oak barrels.

We went down to the crossroads and brought Old Scratch back.

Moxie Syrah has aromas of brambly blackberry and black cherry with underlying notes of clove and anise. Initially the wine is soft and supple, finishing with dried red fruits, black pepper and tobacco. When wine is closer to room temperature, the fine-grained, delicate tannins are exposed. Designed to be food friendly, this wine goes with just about everything: from summer BBQ, grilled meats and fish to most winter comfort foods such as rich braised dishes, stewed fish and meats.

This vintage showcases an expressive bouquet of smoky herbs, grasses, elegant white flowers and honey butter, citrus oil with nuances of creamy vanilla brioche, golden apples and toast. In the mouth there are generous proportions of star fruit, guava, meyer lemon, apples, lime leaves and cream. Reinforcing the trademark of Chaleur Estate Blanc, the wine has mouthwatering acidity, beautiful structure and balance carrying through to a lengthy finish.

Blend: 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot Finished in 66% new oak, this wine is ruby/purple colored effort with intense blackcurrant, smoke, tobacco and oak aromas on the nose. On the palate, it is medium-full bodied with nice acidity, freshness and purity. Drink now or cellar for 10-15 years.

It’s a wine with brilliant acidity calmed by a lovely roundness that comes from the lees stirring. The wine has lovely aromas of lemons, grapefruit and apples and lingering flavors of stone, lime and honeydew melon.
