Domaine Terlato & Chapoutier is a collaboration between legendary French wine grower, Michel Chapoutier and wine industry icon, Anthony Terlato. The single vineyard L-Block is from a tiny ‘L’ shaped plot that survived the 13 year drought without irrigation. South facing and at an altitude of 400m, this is a low yielding and cool block. The wine is powerful and intense but with delicate, fine tannins.

This white wine (viognier) is produced from a single vineyard and like the Guilty only a “lucky few will ever get to taste it”.

Deepish red/purple colour, bright. Fresh, clean plummy aromas laced with a subtle touch of oak. The palate is rich and textural, with a good balance of savoury and fruity elements. Quite deep and fleshy, with fruit sweetness hiding behind ample tannins and lots of flavour depth.

Salmon pink in color with a semi-sweet palate filled with red berries, melon, pear and floral notes. Lower in alcohol, this is the perfect introduction for new wine drinkers, or to sip on the porch with friends. Enjoy chilled and try pairing with spicy foods or desserts.

The 2014 Pinot is bright violet-red in color and shows the purity of fruit that is so easily lost with this fickle variety. The aromatics are dominated by lifted, bright cherry and raspberry notes and subtler nutty oak characters. The medium body palate reveals ripe, red fruits framed by mocha notes and balanced oak. The silky texture envelops the palate while the balanced flavors welcomingly linger on the finish.

It is deep inky-black colour displaying rich aromas and flavours of berries and liquorice with dense tannins and classy French and American oak. It shows the typically intense colour and body for which Rutherglen Durif is rightfully famous.

Fruit is harvested at night and given around six hours skin contact to develop hints of pink from the Black Muscat. The juice is then fermented slowly (cold) and under pressure until full natural carbonation is achieved. If we are on track, this brings us to 5.5% ABV, approximately 100 grams sugar and 0.55% (weight) CO2; which requires some pretty specific fermenting vessels, a wing and a prayer. But we have practice.
