Wine in Var

Made at Sir David Murray's wine estate in the South of France, Chateau Routas wines have achieved many distinctions, including being quoted 'one of the best wine producers in Provence' by Robert Parker. 'Coquelicot' is 80% stainless steel fermented estate Viognier from Condrieu cuttings, blended with 20% barrel-fermented estate Chardonnay. Classic viognier with an appealing nose that is redolent of almond, apricot and peach blossom. Clean and crisp with good acidity and a rounded finish. This wine is also suitable for vegetarians. "Peach flavours dominate this lush, medium-bodied white, which features honeydew melon and butter notes, with hints of cumin on the rich finish." Wine Spectator Magazine. 14% vol.

Varietal Composition: 25% Grenache, 25% Cinsault, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Syrah Vine: Age of vine 15-25 years old grown on the hillsides above the Mediterranean Sea Tasting Notes: A salmon pink robe with aromas of fresh citrus and red fruits. The palate is fresh and smooth evoking apricots and grapefruit. Vintage: 2013

A fresh, easy to drink rose from the iconic region for rose of Provence. A slug of Cabernet adds a hint of dusty tannin to the traditional grapes of Syrah, Grenache and Cinsault. Aromas of strawberries and a touch of soft herbs like tarragon give way to refreshing, zingy flavors and a touch of chalkiness on the finish. A fabulous back-deck sipper for the dog days of summer!
