In Florence to have "Grilli" (crickets in Italian) means to be a dreamer. This wine, born from the partnership with Mondavi, reflects the creative style and the dynamism of Bibi Graetz. With this wine Bibi decided to break his own rule and make a wine which is not made by indigenous Tuscan grapes, but a wine made from international varieties, following the definition of "Supertuscan" and using Cabernet and Merlot.

Soul. Malbec, Cabernet and Merlot are perfectly integrated in this stimulating, articulated and structured wine, which best expresses the terroir, complex and rich, with elegant spicy notes and aromas of red fruits. Freshness, structure, persistence, a wine that preserves the characteristics of the vintage and the territory unchanged, made more intense by 18 months in barriques.

Castello-di-Sonnino-Rosso-Toscano
The de Renzis Sonnino family has been living in the rooms of the Castello di Montespertoli since the beginning of the nineteenth century when it was purchased by Isacco. It was the home of the great statesman Sidney Sonnino during the years of his government. In 1987 the arrival of Baron Alessandro and Baroness Caterina de Renzis Sonnino, with their children Virginia and Leone, marked the start of a new phase in the life of the Castle. Conservative renovation work, a commitment to the protection of the historic-cultural heritage and the revival of the winegrowing activity have made the Castello Sonnino one of the most interesting sites and one of the finest producers in Florentine Chianti. The Castello Sonnino with its thirteenth-century tower, symbol of the territory of Montespertoli, overlooks the valleys of Florentine Chianti. Here, for over two centuries, the Sonnino family has been producing wines and extra-virgin olive oils of remarkable character, fusing a profound knowledge and love of the earth with a constant spirit of research. Today, Baron Alessandro de Renzis Sonnino steers the company along this path between tradition and experimentation, resulting in the creation of one of the most interesting wines of the new Tuscan generation.

The grapes grow on the cool hilltops of northern Italy's Lombardy region, where the northern-lying Alps shield the low-yielding hillside vineyards from harsh weather and the 20-year-old Guyot-trained vines benefit from a superb blend of white marl and chalky soils. During harvest, the fruit is carefully handpicked and pressed. Finally natural peach aromas are added for truly special wine.

It matures some 20 months in French oak barriques and then 8-10 months in the bottle. Grapes: Pugnitello 35%, Merlot 30%, Cabernet Sauvignon 30%, Petit Verdot 5% Tasting Notes: Dense, garnet-flecked ruby. Releases a rich medley of red currant, sweet spice, and pungent under brush. Some of Tuscany's best wine values come from outside the Chianti and Brunello zones, like Tenuta di Ceppaiano's vibrant and fruit-driven Violetta. Ripe, juicy Sangiovese is supported by a small portion of Cabernet Sauvignon, resulting in a structured, elegant, and balanced wine. Fragrant hints of roses, earth, balsamic, salumi, and dried oregano add dimensions of complexity to a lucid core of red cherry and Italian plum. This attractive red makes for a lovely match with flavorful dishes like braised short ribs, wild mushroom risotto, or even fresh antipasto.
