This Cabernet Franc is made in an exuberant, fruit forward, lower alcohol style (13.5%) like you find in the Loire Valley wines of Chinon and Bourgueill. We love it with charcuterie, grilled sausages, and ratatouille.

A seven varietal blend from the Fenaughty & Lightner vineyards at 2800’ elevation in El Dorado is a testament to both terroir and the art of blending.

This wine offers classic varietal characteristics like ripe cherry aromas, complex flavors, and silky tannins. As distinctive as it is, it’s also friendly and unpretentious with plenty of wild currant and plum flavors, with hints of allspice and dark chocolate on the palate.

While some people say, "any port in a storm", we strongly suggest ours. Montevina Terra d'Oro Zinfandel Port displays aromas of raisined berry fruit, sugared dates, chocolate, caramel and orange peel. The wine's rich, lush, grapy flavors also evoke raisin, cocoa, coffee and toffee. This delicious, fortified wine is perfect on its own or as an accompaniment to chocolate, chocolate, chocolate...don't like chocolate? Try it with Stilton cheese and toasted walnuts.

We love transparent, delicious, easy, characterful, and deeply flavorful wines that are finely structured and relatively low in alcohol: Chinon, Bourgeuil, Beaujolais, Mondeuse, Marzemino, Lagrein, Barbera, Albarino, Vermentino, Txakolina . . . . you get the idea. What we don’t understand is why this style of wine is rarely made in the New World. While there is a school of thought that says New World wine has to be richer, higher in alcohol, and riper, we don’t buy it. We believe that if the grapes are planted on cool, appropriate sites, well-farmed, picked ripe at reasonable sugar levels, and truly minimally handled in the cellar, we can make just such wines without compromise in the New World. 93% Cabernet Franc from Camino Alto, Barsotti, Matagrano and Boeger Vineyards, El Dorado County. 7% Gamay from Barsotti Vineyard, El Dorado County, fermented separately with the native yeasts, aged and settled for four months in stainless steel with minimal sulfur, 13% alcohol naturally, blended and bottled.

Elevated aromas of baked berry pie, licorice and pepper intermingle with oak notes of vanilla and mesquite. The Jam Bomb delivers again with brambly blueberry middle surrounded by ripe flavors of boysenberry and blackberry. A big splash of Barbera, together with a little Petite Sirah and Mourvedre keep this wine rocking on your palate from its jammy start to its velvety berry/cinnamon finish. This Zinfandel lives on the edge of conventionality and crazy: Part brambly berry. Part blackstrap molasses.

The Terra d’Oro 2017 Rosé is a complex, yet refreshing, wine that radiates a gorgeous dark salmon hue in the glass. Intense aromas of sweet red fruit are framed by intriguing hints of floral and spice notes. The palate is bursting with spicy strawberry, balanced by subtle hints of ruby red grapefruit and violets.

Located at 2400 ft. above sea level, these grapes were estate- grown at our Hay Station Ranch vineyard where warm days are cooled by the evening mountain air. This areas unique soil of decomposed granite mixed with volcanic sediment and red clay produce a wonderful mineral component. Grapes have been grown in the Sierra Foothills for 150 years. elegant, rich yet soft wine. With fleshy black cherry, blackberry and spicy oak aromas this seductive Cabernet Franc is worth drinking now or cellaring for a special occasion. Succulent, dark fruit flavors of plum, black cherry with a hint of sweet oak fills the palate and gives way to a smooth, medium finish.

The ripe flavors are balanced on the palate by fresh acidity by explosive red fruit flavors and chocolate notes.

The rosé is delicious, energetic, and nervy. It shows intense watermelon fruit, mouthwatering acidity and a suggestion of fine tannins that bring cut to the finish. The serious nature and structure of this wine not only calls out to the summer months but demands year round consumption.

The Terra d'Oro Sangiovese is a classic example of intensity tempered by elegance and finesse. This wine expresses inviting aromas of sweet oak with hints of ripe cherries and violets. Great length and fine balance mark the finish with dark stone fruit, spice and bits of red currant resting on the palate.

Dark ruby in color, this wine smells of cherries, lilacs, and cedar aromas. In the mouth it is incredibly aromatic, with soaring flavors of cherry, cedar, floral notes and hints of darker deeper earth and leather. Muscled, suede-soft tannins hug the palate and linger as the wine finishes in a resonant way. Excellent. This is my kind of Cabernet Sauvignon; it's gorgeous now, but it should age well for decades. It has concentrated aromas and flavors of cedar and black currants, somewhat like a California version of a good Left Bank Bordeaux, such as a Pauillac. It has great depth, and is driven by its excellent acidity--unusual for California.

This is a young, assertive Zinfandel. The color is dark garnet or pigeon ruby red with great clarity and medium body which will develop over the next two or three years. The wine displays bright tannins in the front of the palate, softening to cherries with a hint of smoke, wood and tobacco. On the finish you will notice a dark, rich plum characteristic. Good now but outstanding in 2 to 3 years.

This is a beautiful, fresh, relatively light and nicely balanced wine with a gorgeous array of vibrant fruit in both the aromas and the flavors. It pours on red and black cherry and raspberry while backing them up with good, taut acidity and light tannins.

Our 2017 Sangiovese displays flavors of ripe cherry, wild strawberry, roasted red pepper, herbs de provence, clove, vanilla, and dried roses, with a light, lush finish. Pairs best with pasta, cured meats, and light or dark meats.
