Sinful indeed, our 2017 Old Vine Zinfandel is full-bodied and seductive. Heaps of jammy berry fruit are followed by aromas of leather, oak and spice notes. On the palate the wine is round and layered showing flavors of dark fruits, currants and toffee through a lingering spice-touched finish. Released in 2002, 7 Deadly was born from a Catholic school upbringing and our winemaker’s lust for hedonistically seductive wine. Seven certified sustainable vineyards were chosen for the inaugural vintage in the enviable Lodi appellation, where Zinfandel reigns supreme. The Seven Sins were related to the seven Old Vine Zinfandels blended in the wine to create 7 Deadly Zins.

Bold and vibrant notes of summer raspberry intoxicate the senses, enticing you to take a sip of this lively red zinfandel. Once on the palate, flavors of briary blackberries and ripe cranberries meld with tones of baking spices such as clove and nutmeg. Nuances are added from the young American oak, concentrating and enhancing the juicy mouthfeel. The full-bodied tannin structure relaxes into a smooth and supple finish: long, lingering and full of enjoyment.

Gnarly Head wines began with a vision and a vine. In 2004, on a mission to make a serious Zinfandel, our winemakers journeyed to Lodi in central California in search of the famed old vine Zinfandel vineyards. Grown in the head-trained, spur-pruned method for over a century, these vigorous gnarled vines produced more ripened red fruit than they had ever seen. Bota Box Old Vine Zinfandel is rich in color with aromas of blackberry bramble, red currant and a touch of spice. Concentrated and fruit forward, Bota Zin showcases black cherry fruit and toasted oak on the palate, with hints of black pepper that carry through to a long, lingering finish. Nicely balanced acidity and supple tannins make this medium-bodied wine an ideal partner for roasted pork tenderloin studded with garlic and rosemary, grilled burgers topped with blue cheese, or even chocolate brownies.

Predator Zinfandel is sourced from 50+year old vines that produce rich and intensely flavored fruit. The resulting wine is big and bold with hallmark "old vine" velvety texture, spice and vibrant varietal flavors. Predator Cabernet Sauvignon has that intense, distinctive flavor profile that we LOVE in the Zin. Smooth, spicy and a delicious dusting of cocoa on the finish.

This Lodi Zinfandel is a challenging and rewarding wine to produce. Strict selection criteria and master blending show in the final product, which showcases dark berry flavors including black cherry and strawberry. Every vintage, we harvest multiple diverse lots of Zinfandel that span the entire Sonoma County Zinfandel landscape. Each of these lots is produced under the careful eyes of winemaker Andy Robinson. The best of these lots are selected to make Sonoma Zinfandel. A small amount of Petite Sirah is added to honor century-old traditions and to provide color and structure. The result is a wine that offers tantalizing raspberry, blueberry, classic briary and spicy flavors with a balance of components for which Seghesio wines are known. With the 2018 release, we have achieved 10 consecutive vintages of 90+ point scores from the Wine Spectator.
