Chiarli-Lambrusco-Grasparossa-di-Castelvetro
This wine is from Italy, Emilia-romagna region, Lambrusco Grasparossa Di Caste sub-region. Cleto Chiarli is the oldest producer of Lambrusco in Emilia Romagna. The winery was founded in 1860 by Cleto Chiarli, a restauranteur, who was already producing his own Lambrusco for customers of his restaurant. Chiarli owns seven estates, six located in the Modena DOC and one in the Colli Bolognesi DOC, located in Bologna. The vineyards extend throughout the fertile alluvial soils of the river Secchiaon on the plane north of Modena. Lambrusco refers to a family of similar varietals that primarily in Emilia-Romagna. There are several clones and sub varieties, the most common being Sobara and the red-stemmed Grasparossa. Sorbara is prized for its lightness and elegance, while Grasparossa is fuller and more powerful. The wines are produced using the Metodo Italiano (Charmat) process where a second fermentation is conducted in pressurized stainless steel tanks. For over a century, the Chiarli name has been considered a benchmark for traditional quality Lambrusco.. Gentle pressing of the grapes followed by a long cold maceration. Produced with the Metodo Italiano(Charmat) process.. Red, semi sparkling wine, full-bodied and soft on the palate.

The often misunderstood Lambrusco is frothy and delicious. It is made from Lambrusco grapes that are planted on the Apennine foothills in the south of Emilia-Romagna in soils comprised of sand, silt and marl. The sloping vineyards and slightly heavier soils produce concentrated wines that are rich in flavor and often accompanied by some sweetness. Similar to Prosecco, the wine is made using the Charmat method. The first fermentation occurs at low temperatures, which preserves the wine's fresh red fruit aromas and minimizes the extraction of tannin from the skins. The second fermentation occurs in a closed tank where CO2 is captured by the liquid infusing the wine with a gentle fizz. The DOC region of Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro is the furthest south in Emilia-Romagna. By many it is considered the finest DOC for Lambrusco. Its more moderate climate, less fertile soils and earlier ripening clones produces lower yields of fully mature grapes resulting in wines rich in color, aroma and flavor. Deep purple-red in color, with aromas of fresh strawberries and violets. Take a sip and a light touch of effervescence accompanied by flavors of plum and wild berries emerge. This refreshing, versatile wine pairs fantastically with the lightest of appetizers or the heartiest cured meats and aged cheeses.

Deep color which foreshadows intense, but never excessive scents. It combines roundness and austerity. This artisanal Lambrusco from the Chiarli family in Emilia-Romagna, the oldest producer of Lambrusco in Italy. Made from single-vineyard Grasparossa grapes, this Lambrusco has bright blackberry and raspberry fruit. This sparkling red will dance on your tongue before finishing dry.
