Very well-defined bouquet of oranges, honeysuckle and melon. The palate is filled with minerality, an excellent sense of energy, and well-balanced acidity. This is a complex, delicious, and meant to be enjoyed.
This cuvée of Clos des Hospices is located inside the main appellation of les Clos. It is a parcel of 0.5 ha (just over an acre) bought by the Moreau family from the Hospices of Chablis in 1904. Since then, it has always been vinified separately, producing an exceptional full-bodied and generous wine.
About the Winery:
The Moreau family has been rooted in Chablis since 1814. In 2002, Père et Fils (father and son) started Domaine Christian Moreau with their extensive holdings in some of Chablis’s best vineyards. The average age of the vines is over 45 years old, even more depth and concentration to their wines, with the oldest being over 85 years old. Fabien Moreau, the son, is the winemaker, continuously fine tuning to make the best Chablis possible.

"A lean, racy version, featuring lemon, apple, vanilla and lanolin flavors. Fleshes out on the palate, yet remains defined by vivid acidity. Displays fine length, echoing lemon and spice notes. Best from 2020 through 2027. 1,400 cases made, 50 cases imported." Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator
“A small portion of the Les Clos vineyard once belonged to the charitable Hospices de Chablis. Today, this one acre is vinified apart from this producer’s other Le Clos cuve. This is a rich wine, hinting at wood aging with intense fruit and acidity. It has a rich texture, a great balance between acidity and the ripe white and citrus fruits. Drink this wine from 2022.” Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast
