Schplink-Gruner-Veltliner
As far as we know, there is no such word in German as Schplink. But if there's a bunch of consonants with one vowel and an umlaut, then any word can look Germanic. With electric yellow color, dot matrix font, and futuristic models from the 1980s, this box of Gruner will grab your attention and invite you into its digital world. However, the 11th generation winemaker Norbert Bauer is anything but a 21st-century phenomenon. The winery was founded back in 1721 in Pulkautal, Lower Austria, and is still going strong with traditional yet forward-thinking wines. In Schplink, Norbert & Gisela Bauer offer a Gruner that is so modern, refreshing, and tantalizing. The cool climate, hand-picked fruit (from vines that are up to 35 years-old) is fermented and aged in steel. Lightly fined and filtered before transferred to 3L boxes. Flavor Profile: Medium-bodied, dry. Bright lemon acidity, minerals, and aromatics that are perfect for hot summer days. Keep it in the fridge and pour yourself a glass or carafe to have with fish, mayo-based salads, cheeses, schnitzels, and sausages.

For the Cistercien Rosé, the Zweigelt and St. Laurent grape varieties grown in the cooler sites of Gobelburg and Langenlois are used. After the harvest, the grapes – still with their stems – are softly pressed and then fermented. This type of rosé is somewhat similar to a white wine because no acid reduction is used to emphasise the fine fruity character with a streamlined elegance. Its fragrance and fruit nuances of wild cherry and fresh berries make this Rosé an optimal universal food companion.

Lois-Gruner-Veltliner
Lois (rhyming with “choice”) is named after the village of Langenlois and was one of the first high-quality examples of Grüner Veltliner to be exported to international markets in 1999. Its intent is an easy-to-enjoy, fresh-tasting style of Grüner Veltliner produced from a combination of estate grown fruit and contracted growers in Lower Austria. Grüner Veltliner’s bright acidity and savory character make it and an ideal partner to mildly spiced Vietnamese, Thai, and Chinese dishes. Fish and shellfish are accented by Grüner Veltliner’s citrus and mineral profile while its acidity cuts the richness of pork or ham. It can also work well with foods that are difficult to pair such as bitter greens and asparagus.

"If you have never tasted Grüner Veltliner before, this is a fabulous introduction. It has beautiful white peach aromas and flavours, with a seasoning of white pepper or even daikon, which is so characteristic of the variety. Great value! Weingut Pfaffl was awarded Wine Enthusiast European Winery of the Year in 2016"

Gruner Veltliner is the signature and most widely planted grape in Austria. The grape is not well known here in New Zealand and with its imposing name, Austrian marketeers are trying to bring the grape and the Austrian wine into the 21st century by lovingly calling it 'Gru-Ve', or 'Groovy'.

Zum Martin Sepp Rosé

Zum-Martin-Sepp-Rosé
Varietal: Zweigelt Zum Martin Sepp is a small restaurant and inn located in Grinzing, a little town on the northern outskirts of Vienna. Michael and Freya Martin produce wine for the inn at Weingut Martinshof, their winery in the Weinvirtel. For generations, the region has supplied wine almost exclusively for the Viennese market, with little or none exported to other countries or even other parts of Austria. Michi Martin is one of the most dedicated winemakers you’ll find. Michi’s passion for his homeland’s champion grape is boundless, and he turns that passion into some of the freshest and tastiest Grüner around. Fresh, with clean citrus fruit and spirited acidity. Organic Practices, hand picked, hand sorting. Stainless Steel aging. A touch of redcurrant plays on the lemony nose of this rather pale rosé. The zesty palate has an edge of white pepper and is both light and dry. Zippy with a crisp, appetizing finish, it's almost thirst-quenching.

The chalky and highly mineral Siglos site is exposed to the north. This guarantees cool nights, which ensure a play of aromas full of finesse. In addition, the steady winds dry the grapes off quickly after every rainfall: an ideal site for Blauburgunder grapes!

"The Michlits family runs the Meinklang farm which is a wide and varied Demeter-certified agricultural operation cultivating a number of different crops as well as raising 300 Angus cattle. The estate represents what used to be common practice everywhere in the Pannonian countryside: a mixed farming operation, managed by extended family. The wine estate is well integrated into the farm and lead by Angela and Werner Michlits. The ancient method of sparkling wine - Petillant Naturel. Creamy from the yeast but still refreshing and crisp. A charming sparkling wine that will surprise you every second. Made from skin macerated Pinot Gris; technically an ""orange"" sparkling wine. "

Edelweiss-Gruner-Veltliner
The home of Mozart, Edelweiss and Riedel Crystal has a long, rich tradition of winemaking that dates back to approximately 700 B.C. Nowadays Austria is a dynamic wine region characterized by its white wines which account for approximately 65% of the country's total production. More than one third of the vineyards are planted to Grüner Veltliner, a white grape which is indigenous to Austria and not found much outside its borders. Austria’s wine law, which is very similar to Germany’s, dictates grape variety and yields within delineated zones of production. This particular wine hails from Austria's largest wine-growing area, Niederösterreich which is located near the capital of Vienna. This wine is 100% Grüner Veltliner fermented in stainless steel to preserve its fresh fruit flavors and acidity. It is bright green-yellow in color with hints of citrus, minerals and herbs on the nose. On the palate, flavors of lime zest, honeydew melon and white pepper follow through on a refreshing finish. This wine is a natural match for shellfish, grilled fish, chicken or Asian-inspired cuisine. Guests enjoyed this wine paired with deliciously refreshing Ceviche Shooters.
