Wine in Anderson Valley

Roederer Estate Brut, the first California sparkling wine produced by Champagne Louis Roederer, builds upon a 200-year tradition of fine winemaking that has made Roederer champagne among the most sought-after in the world. Roederer's winemaking style is based on two elements: ownership of its own vineyards and the addition of oak-aged reserve wines to each year's blend or cuvee. All the grapes for the Anderson Valley wines are grown on the Estate. Each year, the winemaker selects a portion of the best wines for aging in Center of France oak casks. Aged from one to three years, wines from this reserve cellar are added to the blend, creating a multi-vintage cuvee in the traditional Roederer style, known for its body, finesse and depth of flavor. The Roederer Estate Brut debuted in October 1988, and has since established its reputation as one of California's premier sparklers, remaining true to the heritage of excellence and style of its French forebears.

Jolie is a gorgeous red wine crafted from a variety of pinot noir blocks and clones grown at the Maggy Hawk Vineyard in Anderson Valley. After fermentation and aging for 15 months in 20% new French oak, the individual blocks and clones are blended together and finished unfined and unfiltered. This red wine exudes floral aromas with light red fruit. Flavors of rhubarb, raspberry, strawberry follow. A perfectly balanced acidity transitions into a soft finish. Expressive, silky, and refined.

Our 2015 Two Creeks Pinot Noir displays fresh, fragrant aromas of red and black cherry, raspberry and tea-leaf spice. The palate is lush and mouth-filling with rich blackberry, strawberry, raspberry and plum flavors that segue into a long finish suffused with notes of black cherry, spice and mineral. Delicious now, this full-flavored, cool-climate pinot noir will develop additional complexity with up to five more years of bottle aging.

The hallmarks of our Anderson Valley Chardonnay, bright acidity and vibrant fruit, are achieved by picking the grapes before the sugar gets too high, limiting malolactic fermentation, and using very little new oak. Aromatics of lemon panna cotta, verbena, and subtle hints of lime zest and struck flint give depth to the nose. On the palate, flavors of lemon zest, honey, and chamomile are punctuated by refreshing acidity.

Wendling lies just along the Anderson Valley AVA boundary, thereby earning the distinction of being the Valley’s closest vineyard to the coast. Exceptional for many reasons, the 15 acres that we farm were planted in 2008 with tight spacing, some meter by meter, to 10 clones of Pinot Noir. Expectations are high for this vineyard, as we anticipate it evolving into one of the valley’s preeminent sites. The Carpe Diem Pinot Noir displays ripe aromas and very jammy flavors on the palate. The acidity levels in this wine show off the Anderson Valley climate and are balanced by limited oak expressions.

Flavors of warm apricot are given gorgeous dimension by fragrant white-flower aromatics; hints of caramelized apple and cinnamon heighten a mid-palate of pure guava, sweet vanilla and poached pear. Ethereal yet voluminous, the wine’s acidity provides a long and lingering finish – one of Meyer lemon punctuated by an end note of spicy oak. Refined, elegant, and perfectly restrained, this wine displays the clarity of vision and intent with which it was created.

Splendid aromas of pomegranate, bing cherry, orange, sweet herbs, and vanilla can be found with every swirl and sniff. On the palate the wine is round and plush with a fresh acidity to carry the fruit and add length to the finish. This is an exceptional wine with food and will pair beautifully with a charcuterie plate, pan seared duck breast, wild mushroom risotto, or grilled swordfish

This red wine shows bright acidity, accenting the rich flavors of dark fruit, cola and spices, with firm minerality. Powerful, silky tannins on the finish, while oak aging brings a smoky note.

Interesting earthy, barnyard aromas and focused, red- and black-cherry flavors give this wine an old-school style. It's medium to full bodied, has a good little touch of tannin and lively acidity for structure.

Carpe Diem is ripe with aromas and very fruity, but with limited oak expressions. Acidity levels show off the Anderson Valley climate. This Chardonnay will go well with baked halibut and a lightly dressed spinach and cherry tomato orzo.

This Anderson Valley Pinot Noir is a blend of fruit from two of our estate vineyards. Maggy Hawk in the cool "deep end" of the valley is one of the last vineyards before the Pacific Ocean and benefits from the proximity to the maritime influence. Skycrest Vineyard is situated within the warmer Eastern section of the valley and sits at a much higher elevation. Both vineyard sites benefit from unique soils comprised of weathered sandstone which moderates vine vigor and allow for excellent drainage.
