This Dolcetto di Dogliani wine has received good scores from various critics: the 2009 vintage was given a score of 90 by Wine Spectator.

Intense ruby red, with slightly spicy and vinous aromas of wild berries and cherries. Velvety, soft and full-bodied on the palate, with a typical almondy aftertaste. This is one of the Langa’s historic wines, so it goes wonderfully with our local dishes as well as others, such as tagliatelle with meat sauce, filled pastas, cold cuts, boiled meats, poultry and semi-hard cheeses.

This 100% Dolcetto d'Alba is grown from 35 to 70 year old vines from the iconic Cantina del Pino estate which is famous for its production of Barbaresco. Fruity profile with characteristics of bright blueberry, fresh plum and subtle spice. Pairs well with pasta, pizza and tomato based dishes.

Dogliani is a neighbor to the great Piedmont vineyards of Barbaresco and Barolo, and produces the best red wines made from the indigenious Dolcetto variety. The Abbona Dolcetto di Dogliani “Papa Celso” is aged for 10 months in stainless steel tanks, with an additional 2 months in bottle before release. Ripe and rich, this Piedmont red offers fresh fruit and floral notes with good structure and a long finish.

The nose is youthful and bright, full of red and Bing cherries. On the palate, notes of hard candy, with a lively Jolly Rancher-like cherry flavor. Mid-palate notes of cardamom, with a pleasurable, slightly herbal finish, with a trace of basil. The characteristics of Dolcetto shine through: a graceful balance of acidity and light tannins, alongside a youthful exuberance and freshness that make the varietal so versatile at the table.

The Dolcetto grape we produce comes from our own vineyards, where we find land typical of the Elveziano territory (of more ancient formation, calcareous-clayey from the shaded color towards the light gray and pink.Alternally we find also the siliceous sandstones, carbonate of calcium and iron.) The color is intense ruby ​​red with purple reflections. The persistent floral and fruity scents of violets and small red fruits give it pleasant immediacy. The contained tannins and the calibrated and elegant structure make it "the daily wine" par excellence, satisfying without being too demanding.

Since 1878, Fontanafredda, located in the heart of the Langhe region, has been a true institution in Piedmont, a benchmark for authentically-styled Barolo and Barbera wines thatdeftly balance intense aromas and deep concentration of fruit with outstanding finesse and elegance. This style is fully in line with chief winemaker Danilo Drocco’s philosophy that “Barolo should reveal itself little by little, rather than all at once.” The story of Fontanafredda is a noble one. It began in 1858, when Vittorio Emanuele II, the first king of Italy, purchased the estate (a former hunting preserve) in order to produce fine Barolo for his personal use. Today, Fontanafredda is the single largest contiguous estate in Piedmont with over 305 acres of land, including 210 acres of vineyards in the Serralunga, Barolo and Diano d’ Alba communes. Fontanafredda enjoys unrivalled access to many of Piedmont’s greatest vineyard sites. All estate vineyards are farmed without the use of chemicals. The Briccotondo line perfectly expresses the character of Piedmont's traditional grape varieties. Named for the rolling hills of Langhe and Monferrato (Bricco = Hill; Tondo = Round), these fresh and lively wines have a distinct roundness reminiscent of the land where their grapes are grown. Versatile and food-friendly, Briccotondo wines are great pairings with any meal.

An extraordinary display of the Dolcetto varietal bursting with aromas of ripe red berries, particularly raspberries. This medium-bodied red is perfect with everyday meals. The wine matured in stainless steel tanks for 9-10 months. It was bottled and aged an additional 3 months prior to release. Consume within 3-5 years for maximum flavor expression.
