One of the most distinctive wines in this range, the Massolino Dolcetto d’Alba is a powerful wine that really shows the grip and intensity of Serralunga in its structural feel. Smoke, iron, incense, dark spice, menthol and licorice add character to a rich, flavorful Dolcetto that will shine at the dinner table.

100% Dolcetto from 35 year old vines grown in calcareous clay soils. Vinification in horizontal fermentation tanks with temperature control for 6-7 days. Maturation in steel tanks for 8-9 months. The color is ruby red with purple reflections. The nose is young, fresh, with fruity and floral notes. The taste is balanced and persistent, with acid, tannic and alcoholic components. The finish is long and complex.

Several important critics have rated this Dolcetto d'Alba wine highly: Wine Spectator gave the 2013 vintage a score of 91. Ranked third among the wines from this region with respect to number of prizes won: the 2009 vintage was awarded Silver from the San Francisco International Wine Competition. This is among the highest-priced Dolcetto d'Alba wine. The price has been stable over the past year.

This wine comes from the vineyards of Monforte d’Alba. The plot has a south-southwest exposure, and the carefully selected grapes give the Dolcetto d’Alba a fresh taste and good structure.
