In typical Gosling fashion, we didn’t just dash out a new product. It took several attempts and repeated blending and tastings (tough work, but someone had to do it). We proudly arrived at a muscular, but refined rum that not only won praise from homeward bound visitors, but also from competition judges. Goslings 151 proof Black Seal Rum enjoys great popularity through its inimitable flavour, characteristic taste and unique quality. This lip-tingling spirit makes an ideal complement to any exotic, sun-drenched libation and is excellent in desserts that call for flaming.

Like the label says this is white overproof rum. Known for its high ester pot still rum, this is the first rum from Hampden to be bottled in Jamaica for the local market. Most of the rum produced at Hampden is sold to blenders in Europe and South Africa where it is blended with other lighter rums and bottled.

BACARDÍ-151
Next time you’re pouring rum cocktails for your cohorts, serve up this nugget of rum trivia: Bacardi 151 gets its name for its proof level of 151. At 75.5% alcohol by volume, that’s nearly double the level of typical rum. Wowza. All that alcohol means it’s highly flammable, so be responsible friends. Balance Bacardi 151’s punch by using it sparingly in sweet, fruity drinks, such as Hurricanes or Rum Punches.

The punchy, overproof version of the incredible collaboration between Jamaica's Hampden Estate and legendary Italian bottler Velier. It's a single pure rum (distilled in pot stills at one distillery) made with wild fermentation, matured in the tropics and bottled with no added sugar or colour. The result is a spirit that not only still has the character of the molasses it came from, but is packed with intense estery fruitiness. It's what rum fans have been asking for for years: it's finally here.

Ed Hamilton is a modern pioneer of rum, a man who single handedly discovered and brought countless Caribbean rums to the US market. The molasses used at Demerara Distillers Ltd comes from Guyana and contained 65% dissolved sugar, one of the highest sugar contents of any molasses found in the Caribbean. The high sugar content is attributed to the age of the Guyanese sugar mill. Demerara Distillers Ltd. utilizes a variety of column and pot stills the company acquired through acquisitions over the past 300 years. Among the unique stills are a wooden pot and a wooden column still that distill the heavier rums while copper and stainless column stills are used to make lighter rums.

An outstanding blend of vintage rums from Barbados, Jamaica and Guyana. This multi-layered rum was bottled at cask strength so you can experience its true flavor. Appearance: Alfalfa honey. Nose: The esters are so concentrated and varied that the aroma presents first with the unmistakable monolithic smell of funky Jamaican rum. Slowly, the Barbados and Demerara rums drive a wedge into the funk and focus the profile first around berries and flowers. There’s a fatty element at times reminiscent of tahini or browned butter. A kiss of wood spice, sauna and nutmeg is present. Palate: The alcohol keeps the sweetness in check, the tannins are modest and sandy. The flavors mirror the nose: Blackberry, rosehip, nutmeg, tahini. The mineral side really shines and gives a maritime feel: crushed oyster shell, kelp, fried clams, dry vermouth. Finish: The tropical fruits pop, with lime zest, lychee, navel orange, and pineapple. Some soft resinous touches of mastic and pine pitch. A hint of savory enoki mushroom and sweet crab meat. With a splash of spring water: The nose’s complexity extends: saffron, sumac, tomato, wintergreen. The palate becomes rich and sweet, tasting of nougat, honeydew melon, and green grape. The finish explodes with spices, fresh ginger, salmiak, juniper and hibiscus.
