Bully Boy’s aged whiskey uses corn, rye, and malted barley as its primary ingredients, and is aged in new American Oak. The corn makes for subtle sweetness, and the high rye content creates a dry spiciness; the flavors are further refined through the barrel-aging process, which imparts both a prominent caramel note and a nutty finish. Triple Eight Distillery is excited to announce the launch of Nantucket Craft Cocktails. After a few years of experimenting on Nantucket, Triple Eight introduces Nantucket Cran and Nantucket Blue. Bully Boy Distiller's Amaro is a riff on the classic bitter liqueur. It took us two years and hundreds of batches to arrive at the recipe. We settled on a combination of over twenty six different botanicals, all of which contribute to the patchwork of flavor and aroma. The bitter backbone comes from a combination of hops, including Amarillo, Cascade, Citra, and Galaxy. It's complimented by a pop of grapefruit, and its rounded out by earthy and floral notes, including yarrow, rhubarb root, and fig. There is just enough sweetness to make it all work, and at 58 proof its soft enough to sip neat but robust enough to use in cocktails.

It all begins with organic ingredients—juniper, coriander, eucalyptus, lavender, and lemongrass. The Old Fashioned is the easiest drink to make and the hardest drink to make well. With one false step it can easily become too sweet, too dry, too bitter, not bitter enough, or, worst of all, corrupted by fruit and soda water. Like any well made cocktail, the key is balance. Boston Rum grew out of our desire to resurrect the city’s storied history of rum production, which dates back to 1667. Colonial Americans had a healthy appetite for rum, and much of the original spirits was distilled in Boston. Made with blackstrap molasses, our Boston Rum has a bold flavor, which is created using deeper cuts on the still. It’s aged in a blend of used bourbon and red wine barrels, and the final product has a fruity complexity, a subtle vanilla note, and a bit of sweetness.

While the West Coast of the United States may suffer from torrential rainfall, the Midwest from freezing blizzards and the Southern Plains from unyielding tornadoes, the East Coast of the United States sometimes receives all three in the form of a nor'easter. A nor'easter "” a type of massive cyclonic storm "” takes its name from the strong, northeasterly winds that travel across the Mid-Atlantic and wreak havoc upon New England. "I've lived in New England most of my life, and I've spent the last 16 years on Nantucket," says Jay Harman, Triple 8 Distillery's President. "I've been through my fair share of nor'easters."On November 7, 2012 "” just one week after Hurricane Sandy hit New England "” a powerful nor'easter with wind gusts in excess of 80 miles per hour wreaked havoc along the Nantucket waterfront and left the island isolated from the mainland, as ferry and airplane services were suspended. "We enjoyed a few Nor'Easter Bourbons then," says Harman. Nor'Easter Bourbon "” named for these legendary storms that have battered New England "” is made from a mash of 60% corn, 35% barley and 5% rye. After distillation, the bourbon is aged for 8 years and 88 days in 53-gallon, charred American oak barrels sourced from the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Kentucky. "Our climate and geography have a real noticeable impact on the taste of the bourbon," says Harman. The distillery's proximity to the ocean and marine haze (Nantucket is nicknamed "The Grey Lady") add a touch of salt to the bourbon. The hints of salt are complimented by notes of mild vanilla, sweet corn and a touch of honey, which precede a medium-long, smooth finish. After its more than eight year beauty rest, Master Distiller Randy Hudson brings the bourbon to 88.8 proof ("this is The Triple 8 Distillery after all,"he says) before filling each painted-glass bottle by hand.
