Magnus celebrates Highland Park’s founder, Magnus Eunson, a butcher and church officer by day and bootlegger by night who set up his first illicit still over 220 years ago in an area known as the High Park in Kirkwall, Orkney. Magnus pairs the distillery’s legendary lightly peated style with maturation in carefully chosen American sherry oak casks for a beautifully layered character. Aromas of toasted cereal grain and preserved lemon balance a heathery plume of campfire smoke. On the palate, vanilla, citrus and chocolate lead to a smooth and gently smoky finish. Like all CLASSIC MALT Distillers Editions, this Talisker has been double-matured in a second cask after the original maturation period (in this case in an Amoroso Sherry cask). The experience is older, sweeter and richer than the regular bottlings. This Edition has a very special bitter-sweet harmony where the peat softens on the palate to a rich, sweet, juicy fruit finish.

Situated in the Orkney archipelago in Northern Scotland, Highland Park Distillery was founded in 1798 by Magnus Eunson. The name of the distillery is derived not from the region of Scotland known as The Highlands "” the Orkney islands are not a part of The Highlands "” but rather from the region known as High Park, where the distillery was founded.

The 1971 Vintage is a rare release of just 657 bottles, crafted from a small selection of extraordinary casks laid down in 1971 and bottled 40 years later. Decadent notes of dark chocolate, mango, marzipan and cloves are perfectly balanced by Highland Park’s subtle aromatic smokiness and culminate in long, gently spicy finish. The 1976 Vintage has been bottled in bespoke black glass created by acclaimed glass specialist Stölzle Flaconnage. The handcrafted outer oak wooden box is finished with a silver amulet created by Orkney-based jeweler, Aurora.

The nose is quite clean and fresh. There is a mixed fruity sweetness with a spicy character. The peat and smoke rise with notes of perfume and thick oak. Hints of Calvados and a touch of acidity with ground ginger. The palate is thick and rich and full-bodied. Notes of spicy, peppery oak, espresso beans and wood smoke. A little allspice creeps in, there is a certain zesty character lurking somewhere. The spice builds and builds with utter intent. The finish is long and with peppery oak.

Everyone knows you aren't allowed to make scotch whisky outside of Scotland, which is all well and good—if you care to follow rules (which we don't). So we picked a similarly convention-defying island, a little place called Brooklyn, and sent our rogue of a master distiller Mr. Willie Tait there with one goal: to create a world-class single malt scotch whisky made by and for the people of Kings County. He left with six cask samples and returned with an inspired blend hand-selected by some of the borough's most revered inhabitants and establishments. Aged in American White Oak Bourbon, Amoroso Sherry, & Pinot Noir casks, our newest marriage boasts flavors of smoke, roasted coffee beans, lush berries, and honey.

Bottled from cask no. 3250, this is a special release 15 Year Old, cask strength single malt Scotch that was hand selected for BevMo by Highland Park's master whisky maker, Gordon Motion. Rich and full of flavor, this whisky has notes of caramelized pineapple, vanilla sponge cake and polished wood overlaid with Highland Park's signature aromatic smokiness. Only 546 bottles available.

This now rare 25 year old from Talisker was distilled in 1975 and is number 1737 of a limited edtion 6000 that were bottled in 2001.
