In the early 1900s, the Metaxa distillery was in Piraeus and, like other distilleries of the time, created different styles of alcoholic drinks. Among them, the most popular Greek aperitif: Ouzo. OUZO by METAXA is based on the original recipe of that time, which includes different aromatic seeds of the Mediterranean basin and the rare mastic of Chios island.

Cultivated in the Mediterranean island of Chios, this liqueur is made from the resin of the Mastiha tree. The sap is tapped and then allowed to harden. This is then distilled along with grain alcohol and then sugar is added to balance it out. The profile is gentle pine and anise and the staff at Astor think it would be amazing with almond biscotti.

" Created by Constantinos Raptis in 2011, Metaxa 12 Stars is the refined expression of a journey through the senses. This one-of-a-kind amber spirit unfolds a very complex character with subtle aromatic notes of toasted oak wood, orange peel and spices. It results from the unique craftsmanship of ageing and blending wine distillates and Muscat wines, exclusively from the island of Samos. The Metaxa Master says: ‘Normally we use lightly-toasted barrels of Limousin oak. But here I use heavy-toasted barrels. I also select Muscat wine from higher altitudes, for even more concentrated flavours.’ He recommends to discover it neat or on ice, but bartenders of refined places and mixologists explore it in signature cocktails."

This second Collector’s Edition is presented in a porcelain bottle design by Cacao Rocks, a Greek street artist who has developed his own distinctive and vibrant creative style, using Greek symbols and folklore in a modern and contemporary way. “I had the honor of being asked by the House of Metaxa to design one of their iconic decanters. Inspired by my grandfather, I wanted to follow his path, re-visit the Cyclades and take pictures of their typical landscapes. This is how I created the new METAXA Grande Fine design, my own interpretation of Cycladic architecture, a tribute to my grandfather”, says Cacao Rocks. The decanter is decorated with patterns inspired by the windmills of Mykonos and other Cycladic symbols, using the artist’s color palette: white for the Cycladic architecture, blue for the Aegean Sea and gold for the sun."

For the past five generations, the Barbayannis Ouzo Producers have been lovingly producing the classic BLUE Ouzo. They use the traditional method, according to the family recipe brought by Efstathios Barbayannis from Russia in 1860, achieving 100% distillation of the ouzo. This ouzo consists of a pure essence of aniseed and sweet-smelling herbs, with an alcohol content of 46% Vol. and contains the distinctive water of Plomari. FOS is a brand of Greek spirits and wines offered as heritage spirits of Grecian culture. FOS Mastiha is a particular style of Greek liqueur made with the sap of the "Crying Tree" or Mastiha tree. In this case, the Mastiha "tears" (crystalized tree sap" are hand-harvested on the island of Chios and provide 100% of the flavor for a pure style of mastiha liqueur.

The traditional mastic liqueur 'HOMERICON' from Chios is produced through the extraction of genuine mastic into alcohol. This natural resin is extracted from the trunks of the mastic trees, which are cultivated exclusively in the Mastichochoria (mastic villages) of Chios island, and distinguishes itself thanks to its unique aroma, its rich body and the intense after-taste with which it fills our palate. Ouzo 12 is the Ouzo with the extraordinary aroma of history and tradition. Every single bottle is representative of the soul of Greece. It took its name in 1880 at the Kaloyannis Distillery from "Barrel No12". This extract was preferred for its rich taste and its delicate aroma. Today, it still keeps the same taste that makes Ouzo12 one ofthe most consumed varieties of this aniseed-flavoured spirit of Greek tradition worldwide.

Liquorice and orris fold into the herbal wilderness of Diktamo, a rare plant from the mountains of the Greek island of Crete. Tentura (Greek: τεντούρα) or tintura, from the Italian word for tincture, is a liqueur traditionally produced in the Greek city of Patras since the 15th century. It contains alcohol, water, sugar and fermented essences of cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, and citrus fruits. Tentura is a quite dark shade of orange-red, hence its name. It is served chilled, in a small glass. It can also be added in espresso coffee, which is then called corretto. It is also served at room temperature. The alcohol it contains is from the nearby winery in Patras.

Boutari Ouzo is a traditional Greek spirit belonging to the apertif category. Distinguished for its dry taste and rich, fine aroma originating from choice fennel followed by a sweet-aftertaste finish. This slightly chilled beverage is an ideal pairing for seafood appetizers.

Meticulously selected black grapes of the Aegean are pressed then fermented together with the inner seeds. The Black Grape Suma attained by distillation is distilled for a second time with Çeşme’s anise seed in copper alembics. Filtered 10 times, Smyrna Black Grape Special Series is flavored with delectable aromas derived from fresh black grapes.
