Bass Pale Ale is a classic English-style pale ale. Beautiful chestnut coloring with aromas or nuts, caramel, dried fruits and raisins. The taste is slightly sweet and a trace drying, with a nice balanced English hop finish.

Originally a drink for lactating mothers, oatmeal stout was described as nutritional on early labels. Oats are in the same family as barley, and a small addition yields great flavor. Popular in the late 1800’s, the last oatmeal stout was brewed before the First World War until Samuel Smith reintroduced this style in 1980. Samuel Smith's Organic Fruit Beers are brewed and fermented at Melbourn Bros. Brewery in Stamford; then blended, conditioned and packaged at Samuel Smith's Old Brewery in Tadcaster; they are Certified Organic by the USDA-accredited UK Soil Association. While there are older breweries in England, it would be safe to say that few breweries are so little changed as this gem at Stamford, which has stood in the center of the beautifully preserved market community since 1825. From the antique grist mill to the ancient copper vessels, Melbourn Bros. remains today, a working brewery which blends the traditions of the ancient craft with that of the early industrial revolution. Southwold Bitter is a beautiful copper-coloured beer, late and dry-hopped with Fuggles for a distinctive, lingering hoppiness. Brewed with the finest East Anglian Pale Ale malt barley, sourced locally to the brewery. We use Fuggles hops which we add late in the boil to preserve the herbal flavours of this traditional English hop. We add more Fuggles to each cask so that the flavour of the hops infuses into the beer. According to importer Lime Ventures, the idea for this brewery--an incubator, if you will, for new brews experimenting with yeasts, bacterias, barrels, fruit, spices and the like--was born over glasses of Jolly Pumpkin La Roja and Gale's Prize Old Ale. Their Iduna Cru is a Saison-style brew that uses hops from New Zealand and Somerset=grown apple juice. Using wild yeast, the beer is round and fruity, sweet and dry.
