Guinness Draught Stout is the original nitrogen-infused beer. Although to the uninitiated, it can look dark and heavy, it actually tastes deliciously light and smooth, swirling with notes of roasted barley, caramel, coffee and chocolate. The net result is a flavorful stout that’s as approachable as a lager — which it has long been one of the world’s great pub beers. Another surprise is its low-calorie count, just 126 calories for a 12-ounce serve. That’s just 15 calories less than a typical light beer.

This is the stout that made Guinness famous. Sought after by beer aficionados for its mix of hop bitterness, dark malty flavor, crisp roasty notes and bittersweet finish, Extra Stout is perhaps the definitive version of an Irish dry stout. Guinness Extra Stout is carbonated (as opposed to nitrogenated), giving it more hop bite and a crisper mouthfeel. It pours a dark ruby color with a robust, foamy tan head. A generous percentage of roasted barley in the brew gives this beer its signature clean, dry finish.

A caramel centered stout accentuated by Ridge Runner coffee. Instead of simply adding coffee to a stout, we build a stout around the coffee. Course ground coffee beans are added in the conditioning tank. The beans add a robust roasted character and turn this stout fully opaque. Our best selling seasonal since 2008!

The "Irish-style" stout is typically a low-gravity stout with bitterness ranging between 30-45 IBUs. Roastiness is present, but restrained, and there should not be hops in either the flavour or aroma. A little bit of acidity can be present. Often, this type of stout is serving via nitrogen, with all the effects that has on a beer - low carbonation, extra-thick head, lifeless palate and muted flavour and aroma.

Black Hawk Stout retains the big traditional flavors of an Irish-style stout and yet offers a refreshing dry crispness that is rare in many dark beers. Bottle Conditioned Black Hawk Stout is replete with a rich, roasted malt flavor that makes this not-so-heavy stout, creamy and ever so smooth. It has a subtlety that surprises and converts even the most reticent stout drinker.

Mystic Descendant

Mystic-Descendant
Mystic Descendant is a beer descended from the cultural history of the Boston harbor area. A dry Irish stout meets an English porter and is then fermented with our saison yeast with a touch of the ubiquitous ingredient from the area’s past: molasses. The result is a unique beer; it has more dark fruit than a porter and less roast than a traditional stout, while having a different ester profile than a Belgian stout. We thus dubbed our recipe a Suffolk Dark Ale, as an homage to our immigrant ancestors. If Mystic Saison is our local answer to white wine, Descendant is our red. The subtle molasses works with the saison yeast and dark malts to create a rich cherrywood flavor and aromatic finish. It can stand up to red meats or relax by the fire as the days get cooler and the leaves turn to welcome New England’s finest season. The Name. As a combination of Irish Stout, Molasses and the Renaud yeast culture, the name for this beer a direct description: it’s an imagined descendant.
