Traditional throughout Latin America, the guayabera shirt combines style, functionality, form and tradition in it’s four-pocketed design. We at Cigar City feel the same reverence and appreciation for the guayabera that we do for the Citra hop varietal, an ingredient that imparts notes of tangerine, lime and berries to this traditional American Pale Ale. The exclusive use of Citra hops in this beer creates a flavor that’s at once unique and recognizable, while it’s dry, crisp character and moderate alcohol make it as refreshing and functional as a crisp linen guayabera.

After a few years of home brewing in our garage, my brother and I decided we should open a brewery so that we could share our beer. In 2009 we started with a one barrel system and worked on a single recipe, over and over, until Peeper was born. And now we have enough to share. Cheers!

Juicy, Hoppy, Fruity. A medium-bodied, aromatic, dry-hopped pale ale. Not quite an India pale ale, nor a typical American pale ale, we brew Raised by Wolves to highlight the rich flavors and aromas of hops rather than their bitterness. This beer has aromas reminiscent of lush tropical, citrus and stone fruits with a juicy body that you can sink your teeth into.

Utilizing a refined Mosaic product, we gain access to taste all of the intricate hop flavors interwoven into this simple yet sturdy grain bill. The Mosaic aroma is massive, which allows the lucky drinker to sample with your nose before it even hits your palate. It can almost trick you into thinking that you have something hoppy in your cup, yet carries a very easy drinkability to it. Most of the hops were added after flame out as to not add too much bitterness but add nice touches of papaya and tangerine flavors. With low bitterness, low alcohol and lower price, this a day drinker and night drinker alike. Mountain Wave showcases the delicacy of the Mosaic hops wonderfully without throwing flavor away. Balanced and Easy, and perfect for your next adventure.

Stone Ripper

Stone-Ripper
When it came to creating Ripper, we drew inspiration from the coastal surf cultures of SoCal and Oz. Sourcing classic Cascade from the Pacific Northwest and Australian Galaxy hops from…yes…Australia, we made a beer both lovers of frothy peaks and hoppy green buds will be stoked about. At the same time, we stayed true to our San Diego roots by pushing the hop boundaries of this style. While some might think it lingers on an edge far closer to an IPA, with all the dry-hop flavor and aroma, it’s actually right in line with the current-day interpretation of a West Coast pale. Ours just so happens to have an Aussie accent that’s cascading with a juicy amount of grapefruit and passion fruit hoppiness. So veg out or venture out. Either way, rip one open and taste this awesome golden nectar!
Maine Beer Company A Tiny Beautiful Something

Maine-Beer-Company-A-Tiny-Beautiful-Something
a tiny beautiful something showcases a new hop variety, El Dorado. We started playing around with this hop last year. We brewed a pilot batch with this hop exclusively and one with it blended with some of our other favorite Northwest varieties. In the end, we decided that the El Dorado had such a unique and interesting character on its own, so we decided to brew it as a “single hop” pale ale. The aroma and flavor offer intense candied orange and citrus zest. A touch of flaked oats provide a rounded, silky mouthfeel. And like our other hoppy offerings, tiny was brewed to finish dry and clean.

Half-Acre-Tome-Hazy-Pale-Ale
A new addition to our year round lineup and a friendly business partner at 5.5% abv. We've been developing versions of this beer for a while. You can find an intersection somewhere between “On The Lawn ~ Smoking Gull ~ Tasty Waves ~ Smoking Daisy.” Its final compounds POP with Citra, Mosaic, Idaho 7 and Centennial, but it’s still tangled up in the horns of original pale ale – a sweet and creamy core. This bond, all held high by yeast’s haze darling, London 3. Another arch in the Half Acre ROYGBIV system.

Hubert? I've heard of him. A friend of a friend knows him. Apparently he's awesome, but we've never met. Well. It's about time you did. Most you connoisseurs would just call him an IPA, but we call him an MPA. The Melvin Pale Ale. A welcomed hand shake to your taste buds. Light, crisp, fresh and a little bitty bitter. Lets just say he won't be that jerk that leaves you at the bar at 2am. He's low in alcohol. What a nice guy... that Hubert.

When we opened our Boston Brewery in 1988, we created a special brew, Boston Ale, to mark the occasion. A “stock” ale with a distinctly American character, we use earthy English hops along with the sweetness of caramel malts, and ferment it as an ale and aged at cool temperatures.

We took an unassuming pale ale and turned the screws a bit with additions of dried blueberries, vanilla bean and organic mountain-grown catnip. The result is an easy drinking pale ale that finishes like this morning's blueberry muffin. Be sure to hide the cats, they might take a shine to this one.
