Ruffino-Orvieto-Classico
Ruffino Orvieto Classico White Wine has a fruity and floral bouquet reminiscent of green apples and meadow flowers. This Italian wine's smooth, refreshing flavors balance beautifully with its structure and acidity. Orvieto Classico offers a unique mineral character that comes from the chalky limestone soil called tufa. The finish of this white wine is long and fragrant, with hints of almond. The grapes sourced for this Ruffino wine come from the well-known DOCG winegrowing regions of Orvieto Classico. Ruffino's traditional winemaking process, combined with a brief aging in stainless steel vats, delivers an Italian wine that reveals itself without coaxing or manipulation. Enjoy this refreshing white wine as an aperitif, or pair a glass with crostini, grilled vegetables, soup or grilled fish. Refrigerate this bottle of wine for at least two hours, and serve chilled for optimal taste. Please enjoy our wines responsibly. © 2020 Ruffino Import Company, Rutherford, CA USA

Barberani-Orvieto
Barberani is one of Umbria’s most respected producers, famous for its clean, pure-tasting wines. The vineyards lie on hills overlooking Lake Corbara, close to the city of Orvieto in the south-west of the province, which lies south of Tuscany in Italy’s centre. Of the estate’s 80-odd hectares, 50 are dedicated to vineyards and olive groves. The rest is given over to cereals and holiday cottages, making this an authentic place to visit for a spot of agriturismo. The close proximity of the lake below helps regulate the microclimate here by preventing extreme variations in temperature. Advised by consultant oenologist Maurizio Castelli, the estate, which uses no chemical herbicides or pesticides in its vineyards, is renowned for its clean, pure-tasting wines. By law, Orvieto is made from a combination of five grape varieties, of which the finest is grechetto, a Barberani speciality. Around 20,000 bottles of it are produced in every vintage under the designation of Grechetto Umbria IGT, which, in our view tastes not unlike a decent white Burgundy. Barberani also produce a fragrant dessert wine called Calcaia, from trebbiano di Toscana and grechetto grapes concentrated by noble rot (muffa nobile). It is similar to Sauternes in style but with a characteristic lightness of touch. More recently high class barrel-aged reds have been introduced, using sangiovese, merlot and cabernet. These can rival Tuscany’s best in quality, but not in price.

Noe-Orvieto
Three different types of grapes came together to form this wonderfully light and refreshing wine from Central Italy’s Umbria region. After being hand-picked, the grapes were taken quickly to the stalk remover, where they were cooled and pressed immediately. After a 36-hour round of decanting, fermentation was performed in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. An easily drinkable wine emerged, as the Noe Orvieto gives the nose white flowers and fruit. The palate receives a fresh, balanced taste that includes white pear, white peach, the tiniest bit of melon and a soft finish. This wine goes well with starters, first courses with light sauce or any fish or white meat.

Fongoli-Umbria-Trebbiano-Maceratum
Gold yellow and bright beautiful colors and bright reflections. Signum notes reminiscent of blackberries and strawberries. At first sip is very fresh, you can now to fully appreciate its smooth taste and decided. Then comes the warmth of alcohol then the pleasure of wine is young and rich. Fongoli’s Maceratum is a wine that is endlessly exciting to me. Made from Trebbiano Spoletino, as opposed to the much more common Trebbiano Toscano, the Maceratum is a complex orange wine that shows depth but maintains lift and freshness. Harvested in late October, when the grapes have ripened fully, the must is fermented in open vats on the skins for 10 days with daily punch downs to keep the cap moist and gently extract color. The resulting wine is a deep copper color with a spicy nose showing apricots, preserved lemon, and fresh oranges with a touch of dry hay. The palate comes through with tart golden apples, yellow peaches, and more apricots layered over present ripe tannins and braced by bright acidity. The finish is persistant and quite mineral with refreshing lingering fruit. The structure of this wine lends it to carefree food pairing: try it with shrimp risotto, braised pork with baked apples, grilled peaches, washed rind cheese, or whole fish finished with spicy chutney.
