The 2019 vintage centers around 15-25-year-old Grenache from Redwood Valley Mendocino and Lake County, with the introduction of Merlot, Syrah and Zinfandel from Mendocino County. Smaller percentages of Grenache, Malbec, and Pinot Noir from Clarksburg complete the blend. All Smoke Tree’s vineyard partners are certified sustainable.

2013 Overlook Chardonnay Every year the Overlook Chardonnay is an artfully selected blend of grapes from the finest vineyards in California. TASTING NOTES The 2013 Overlook® Chardonnay has a bright, medium gold color with complex aromas of ripe pear, meyer lemon, sage and lemon curd. On the palate flavors of quince, pear blossom, apricot, and pie crust are balanced by lively citrus notes completing this refreshing wine. Drink now, but will continue to develop for 2-3 years. FOOD PAIRINGS The 2013 Overlook Chardonnay pairs well with grilled salmon, roasted poultry dishes, sashimi, lighter meat dishes such as seared pork tenderloin and quinoa salad with seasonal vegetables.

Medium bodied, with floral, citrusy accents on the nose, ripe citrus, peach and pear flavors on the plate, with a fruity and full flavored finish. This wine is easy to drink and lends itself to light appetizers before dinner.

Perched along the hillside and wrapped in a blanket of fog, Lera's vineyard in the renowned Russian River Valley AVA embodies ideal growing conditions for delicate Pinot Noir. The vineyard experiences mild warm days with cool breezes, allowing the fruit to slowly ripen and retain natural acidity. Lush and complex with aromas of black cherry, strawberry and dried cranberry intermingled with a bouquet of toasty vanilla, caramel and spice. Reminiscent of cherry cola and cedar cigar box, it is rich and smooth on the palate with a lasting finish.

Les Pierres is a beautiful, pale straw color with a slightly green hue. This vintage is richly aromatic with bright citrus of lemon curd and Meyer lemon highlighted by peach, baking spice with just a hint of cedar and Les Pierres’ classic minerality. Sunny citrus flavors, melon and lime are well integrated with the oak and complemented with flavors of roasted nuts, spice, and mineral notes. The wine has a beautifully balanced mouthfeel with Sonoma-Cutrer’s signature citrus-laced acidity and a long, juicy barrel spice finish that lingers on the palate.

There is a sweet-savory quality to the aromas with the black cherry fruit being complemented by scents of juniper berries, orange peel, teriyaki and forest floor. The flavors are a little more dark and ripe with flavors of blueberry, plum and cocoa as well as brandied cherries. Ample mouth-coating tannins have a gentle, velvety quality, but leave no doubt that this will be a very long- lived wine. Decanting one to two hours before serving is recommended.

Brilliant aromas of tangerine, beeswax, chamomile and wet stone combine with our signature floral scent reminiscent of honeysuckle and jasmine. Pink grapefruit, pear and apricot expand out over the rich, viscous, mid-palate. Though surprisingly well integrated in its youth, the concentration and vibrant structure of this wine suggest an extremely good vintage for aging in the cellar. Decant on to two hours before serving.

Marc Piro knew he wanted to be a winemaker when he was 9 years old. He sat in the crowded backseat of his family’s beige Mercedes diesel station wagon as they drove through the vineyards of Sonoma’s Dry Creek Valley, and, inspired, he announced, “Mom, I want a vineyard.” Her response was curt, “Well, then, get a good job.” It took Marc a while to get a full time job, but in the process he has spent years traveling the world and making wine under the supervision of talented winemakers in Argentina, New Zealand, Western Australia, and California. He now works with the Au Bon Climat and Qupé wineries in Santa Maria, with Jim Clendenen and Bob Lindquist, two of the legendary names of Santa Barbara County. From Jim and Bob, and from each international experience, Marc has picked up different methods, tricks, and secrets, eventually tying them together into his own unique winemaking style. In 2016, he is celebrating his 10th harvest. True to his boyhood promise, Marc is fulfilling his dream by launching the Piro Wine Company, a boutique label focused on his favorite varietal, Pinot Noir. As he puts it, “I strive to make old- world-style wines from the new world: extremely delicious wines of balance, elegance, and structure.” Bright and zingy on the nose, this wine has aromas of beautiful oak and fresh cut herbs, lavender, sage, and miniature strawberries, finishing with petrichor and wet underbrush. It has earthy, yet fruity flavors, reminiscent of a forest floor doused with bright fruit.
