Robust flavors of black pepper, spices and hints of flowers. A very aromatic wine with excellent aging potential. 100% Syrah sourced from steep slopes along the Rhône River made up of granite soils with schist and gneiss in the Northern Rhône. Vineyard elevations between 200-400 meters with an ideal southern exposure. About the Brand: Vidal Fleury was founded in 1781 as a wine grower and proprietor of vineyards in the renowned Côte Rôtie appellation in the Northern Rhône Valley. With more than two centuries of continuous operation, it is undisputedly the oldest functioning winery and wine firm in the Rhone Valley. Thomas Jefferson even visited in 1787, calling the wines “justly celebrated.” Today they continue these traditions and true to the founder's goals. the winery continues to produce wines that are the finest expression of their appellation. They now produce red, white, and rosé wines from throughout the Rhône Valley. "Circa," formally know as "Celeste," is a blend of old-vine Roussane planted in Mauves on granitic slopes. It is the only white made by Jean Louis that comes from granitic soil. The first vintage produced was 2009 after the purchase of a historic St. Joseph domaine. The wine has made such an impression on Jean-Louis that he continues to plant more Roussanne.
