This blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc is fruit-driven, exhibiting a deep plum and ruby hue with heady aromas of black currant, black cherry, licorice, and graphite. The Chateau Laplagnotte Bellevue Bordeaux shows a medium body with soft, silky tannins, and consumer-friendly appeal.

Almost entirely from Merlot, this wine is packed with wood as much as fruit. The wine has a smoky, burnt character that will need to disappear to allow the black fruits to come through.

Chateau Grand Pontet was purchased by the Becot family in 1980 from the Barton and Guestier families. If the Becot family name sounds familiar that is because they also own the well known Right Bank estate, Chateau Beau-Sejour Becot, as well as La Gomerie in St. Emilion and Joanin Becot in Cotes de Castillon. If the Barton name also rings a bell, it is because they own Chateau Leoville Barton in one of the other saints, St. Julien, as well as Chateau Langoa Barton. The Becot family purchased Chateau Grand Pontet because it’s on good terroir that is located not too far from their other vineyards. Sylvie Pourquet, the sister of Gerard Becot and Dominique Becot manage Chateau Grand Pontet today.

Ruby hints of color. On the palate, fruit flavors of blackberry, fig, black cherry, and dark chocolate.

The colour shows a deep dark red which is marked by its’ beautiful Cabernet character, complete with fresh, lush rich notes of black plums, cassis, cherry, raspberry, figs, and fine leather, with further hints of liquorice, spice and soft vanillary new oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied with a pleasant attack of fine soft tannins and an aromatic evolution that spreads satisfyingly tight across the palate and becomes more defined as the wine lingers in the mouth. Chateau Haut Brisson, was located solely in the Vignonet sector of Saint Emilion, not far from Chateau Monbousquet and Chateau Teyssier after the estate was bought in 1997 by Peter Kwok. Following the initial purchase, the new owner wanted to discover how far he could push the quality envelop for his Right Bank chateau. Before he could do that, Peter Kwok began purchasing additional parcels of land and increasing the size of their vineyards.
