From a Carbon Neutral and Sustainable winery. Red fruit flavours of cherry and strawberry give way to minty freshness gleaned from earlier picked fruit. Lightly tinted from red grape skins, this salmon hued wine is fruity and juicy on the palate. Low in tannins, it displays delightful notes of melon, ripe tropical fruit and strawberry.

Youthful purple, fresh in colour. A coffee, mocha explosion with dark chocolate, rich black fruit, almonds and black cherries on the nose. All these elements follow through adding complexity and depth on the palate. Light to medium body with firm, well integrated tannins. Lovely fruit and wood balance, this wine is made to enjoy young.

Green gooseberry, under ripe mango and pineapple core notes abound on the nose and continue on into the palate of this easy-drinking white. The mouth is a bit rounder than expected, but brilliant acidity keeps things balanced and lifts the close. Drink now.

At 33°44’ latitude 18°48’ longitude, trigonometric beacon 194 still rises above the ancient metamorphic shale it sits on – soil that has seen ocean beds and explosive volcanic magma – and soil in which our intense dark berries are grown on today.

Glen Carlou uses special water-bent barrels from a cooper in Frnace. These sophisticated barrels impart a light touching of oak and allow the fruit to express itself, producing Glen Carlou’s Classic Chardonnay style.

The use of both French and American oak creates layers of flavours, with the latter contributing sweeter vanilla characters that fill the midpalate. The palate has great weight and depth due to layers of fruit tannins, oak combinations and sheer flavour intensity.

Natte Valleij's old cape Dutch buildings have been home to quite a few interesting people. One of these was an Italian prisoner of war (P.O.W.) exiled to the Cape during the Second World War. The inscription P.O.W. B.T. 27/12/1943 is the only reminder of his stay. This hand-crafted, limited release Bordeaux-style blend is made in his honour. The wine is traditionally vinified and matured for 36 months in large oak barrels.

To get to that fresh, fruit driven style; whole berry fruit went to press (retaining better fruit character and less oxidation) then a long cold fermentation – three weeks in stainless steel. No extended lees contact and fermented to dryness. No barrel aging.

Violets, cassis and dried herb aromas form a complex bouquet. Flavours of blackberry and earthy forest floor elements are neatly meshed by fine, ripe fruit tannins that finishes dry with oak derived characters of cinnamon and vanilla. Rich yet structured, this wine will repay careful cellaring over the next ten years.
