Hailing from the hillside vineyards of Asti, Italy where the climate is ideal for fragrant and delicious Moscato grapes – this is one of the few wines that actually tastes like the grapes do in the vineyard. Once delivered, the grape clusters are gently pressed and the juice is clarified immediately to maintain the complex aromas. The wine is then cool fermented in stainless steel tanks to draw out its full flavor and expressive character. The grapes are selected from vineyards on the Vietti estate located in Castiglione Tinella. The vineyards are planted with 4.500 plants per hectare, which are almost 40 years old with yields of 65 hl/ha. Only the best Moscato grapes with extended maturation are used for the Cascinetta. The grapes are crushed, pressed and naturally clarified. Must is stored, without sulfite, at low temperature in order to naturally prevent fermentation. Before the bottling we add yeast and temperature is increased to 12°-14° C (53-57°F).

Light yellow with golden reflections. Fine and persistent. Intense and delicate, sometimes it presents sage signs. Sweet, velvety and intense. It goes well togheter with fruits and desserts.

Moscato d’Asti is picked later than Asti and captures more of Moscato’s hedonistic fruit and floral aromas. The wine is slightly sparkling (frizzante), lower in alcohol, and has a bit more sweetness than Asti. However, its sugar is well balanced by acidity thanks to Valter’s careful work in the vineyard and cellar.

Since 1878, Fontanafredda, located in the heart of the Langhe region, has been a true institution in Piedmont, a benchmark for authentically-styled Barolo and Barbera wines thatdeftly balance intense aromas and deep concentration of fruit with outstanding finesse and elegance.
