Unctuous and sensual, Minervois reveals intense berry fruit flavors. Dominated by the rich and peppery Syrah, this wine is exceptionally soft with silky fruitiness coming from the Grenache.
Minervois is one of the great appellations of southern France. Situated on the rugged hillsides soaking up the warm Mediterranean sun, the region produces wines of combined elegance and power. The Hecht et Bannier Minervois is a blend of 70% Syrah, 20% Grenache and a touch of Carignan vinified in a combination of concrete tank, large neutral oak cask and oak barrels.
About the Brand:
Formed in 2002, Hecht et Bannier produces wines that are reference points for the Roussillon, Languedoc and Provence. Founders Gregory Hecht and François Bannier note: “To conserve the typical Mediterranean strength in our wines while preserving balance and crispness, this is our mantra for all the appellations we produce.” This cutting-edge firm is one of the south’s most exciting projects in recent memory and promises to be a formidable player with dramatic impact in the region.
Critical Acclaim:
2013: 90 points Wine Spectator
“Pureed raspberry, plum and spice flavors are lined with dusty tannins in this fresh, focused red. Hints of milk chocolate add a touch of richness, with floral and spice notes lingering on the crisp finish. Drink now through 2018. 645 cases imported.” Wine Spectator
2015: 90 points Wine Spectator
“A hefty red, with dried red berry, olive and earthy notes, marked by dried herb and licorice accents. Ferrous mineral, cured meat and spice details fill the chewy finish. Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Carignan. Best after 2021.” Wine Spectator
