A beautiful, mature, and complex wine with barnyard, cedar, cigar box, tobacco and graphite aromas. The wine tastes of soft red fruits with good acidity and melted tannin. An aftertaste of Vanilla, autumn, chocolate.

Wonderful aromas of blueberries, currants and flowers follow through to a full body, with ultra fine tannins and a gorgeous finish. Best Potensac in years. Even better than the 2009. 93 points, James Suckling (Feb 2013). Solid, if a bit chunky, with cocoa and ganache coating a core of black currant and blackberry fruit that hangs through the muscular finish, where a warm paving stone note rings out. A touch austere, but the stuffing is there for cellaring.

Profound ruby red in color, Chateau Ramafort is already displaying fine complexity on the nose, in which red-berried fruits predominate with whiffs of lime blossom and honeysuckle. The same harmony is found on the chewy, elegant palate and in the fine tannins which support the clean, frank, fruity aromas.

Beau-Site means beautiful site: Chateau Beau-Site, neighbour to Chateau Calon-Ségur, lies on one of Medoc’s highest points, and one has a fantastic view over the river Gironde. Beau-Sites 18th century underground cellar is one of the oldest in the Medoc and presents the perfect maturing conditions for a wine that is vinified with the same care and technique as a Grand Cru Classé. Beau-Sites wine is full of power and temperament, a typical Saint-Estèphe with tannins allowing for stocking this wine for some years.

Winter 2013 will remain in the memories of our vineyard craftsmen as one of the dampest of the last few years, significantly complicating their work conditions. Average temperatures between April 1 and May 31 were the lowest of the decade. Early in the season, our observations showed a delay of about ten days when compared to the 2012 vintage, which was already considered late. In the month of May, the rainy conditions caused an important amount of coulure in our older Merlots, also affecting the Cabernet Sauvignons. The risk of mildew was, as it had been in 2012, particularly fierce. Summer weather was then more favorable to us. The month of July was the hottest of the past fourteen years, without being marked by a heat wave. The development of the vines remained stalled on a late growth-cycle and we expected to begin harvesting in early October. But the month of September held an unpleasant surprise for us: rain, humidity and warm temperatures were our daily due. Dealing with the pressure of botrytis became the determining factor for planning harvest. We began harvesting on Friday, September 27, with a few of the young Merlots. The next day we increased our pace and, on Sunday, September 29, we harvested 10 hectares in one single day. The Merlots, so important to the identity of our wines, were picked in time and showed a level of phenolic and aromatic maturity that surpassed our expectations. We continued harvesting at a lively pace with the Petit Verdots and the Cabernet Sauvignons. The concentration of sugar was somewhat inferior to that of the Merlots, but the aromatic palettes were clean and precise, showing no vegetative odors. This confirmed the admirable reaction of the estate’s terroir in such difficult weather conditions, reflecting also the positive influence of the lovely month of July. During winemaking, the must was handled with care to avoid the extraction of any potentially rustic tannins. We were able to carefully preserve the silky and velvety identity of the estate’s wines. To find the right expression of this difficult vintage, we held many different tasting sessions, each leading to numerous debates. Finally, only a third of the total production was retained for the final blend of Château Palmer. Harvest dates: from 09/27/2013 to 10/11/2013 Blend Cabernet Sauvignon: 51% Merlot: 49%

This Château Larose Trintaudon Haut-Medoc lives up to region's reputation not only with its intense fruit, but with stellar balance, lovely fine tannins and just the right amount of acidity. Its power and density will satisfy mightily with lamb and meat dishes, especially beef. Pour your first glass and enjoy it with a hearty Tuscan chicken liver paté on rustic toast. Having a little bowl of Spanish Marcona almonds nearby wouldn't hurt either. We love this rich, beautifully defined Haut-Medoc and its earthy tobacco nuances with a roast leg of lamb served with a broccoli rabe gratinée. Formidable! A lighter alternative would be a garganelli pasta with fresh lamb sausage, zucchini and tomato. The labor involved in duck confit is worth it for this Château Larose-Trantaudon. Heavenly together. A rich, crisp-skinned roast goose with a red wine, cherry reduction will bring out the abundant, dark fruit of this Bordeaux. It's perfectly acceptable to end the meal savoring another glass or two of the silky sweetness of this beau Bordeaux's texture and tannins all by itself. If you have room left, however, we suggest a woodsy French Banon goat cheese. Can we get an Ooh La La winelovers??! "Bon vin" indeed...

Third Growth. Troisieme Grand Cru Classe in 1855. Several important critics have rated this Margaux wine highly: The Wine Advocate gave the 2009 vintage a score of 96 and Jancis Robinson gave the 2008 vintage a score of 18/20. Numerous prizes have been won by this wine: the Guide Hachette des Vins awarded the 2007 vintage 3 Stars and the 2003 vintage 2 Stars. Among the highest-priced wines from Margaux. The price has been stable over the past year.

The 2010 LeBoscq is a delicious, seductive sleeper of the vintage from the Lapalu family, whose estate near Begadan is a treasure-trove for good value cru bourgeois. This wine, a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc/Petit Verdot, is stunningly concentrated, with a dark ruby plum/purple color and luscious black currant and black raspberry fruit as well as hints of spring flowers, forest floor and graphite. Medium to full-bodied, lush and endearing, it will have many admirers. Drink over the next 7-8 years.
