As far as we know, there is no such word in German as Schplink. But if there's a bunch of consonants with one vowel and an umlaut, then any word can look Germanic. With electric yellow color, dot matrix font, and futuristic models from the 1980s, this box of Gruner will grab your attention and invite you into its digital world. However, the 11th generation winemaker Norbert Bauer is anything but a 21st-century phenomenon. The winery was founded back in 1721 in Pulkautal, Lower Austria, and is still going strong with traditional yet forward-thinking wines. In Schplink, Norbert & Gisela Bauer offer a Gruner that is so modern, refreshing, and tantalizing. The cool climate, hand-picked fruit (from vines that are up to 35 years-old) is fermented and aged in steel. Lightly fined and filtered before transferred to 3L boxes. Flavor Profile: Medium-bodied, dry. Bright lemon acidity, minerals, and aromatics that are perfect for hot summer days. Keep it in the fridge and pour yourself a glass or carafe to have with fish, mayo-based salads, cheeses, schnitzels, and sausages.

Grüner Veltliner von Donabaum comes from two 25-30 year-old single vineyards in the villages of Halbturn and Andau, which are located between the Danube on the east and the Neusiedlersee on the west. The hand-picked and hand-sorted grapes are destemmed before crushing, and, after a cool fermentation in stainless steel, the wine rests for two months on its fine lees.

Predominately Blaufränkisch with about 20% Zweigelt, this is an ultra-crisp rosé for high summer! A mix of freshly cut green and orange melon and raspberries on the nose, the palate refreshes with bright flavors of strawberries, new raspberries, tangerine zest and lemon juice, very light with saline minerality

This Lenz Moser Blaufränkisch has a dark ruby ​​red in the glass. In the nose is a fine blackberry perfume. The Blaufränkisch presents itself with a subtle and subtle tannin taste with a well-structured and powerful body. In the bouquet a pleasantly fine acidity with characteristic, delicate herbs and aromas of black berries. The outlet is dry.

Szigeti (pronounced ZIG-it-ee) began in 1991 when brothers Norbert and Peter Szigeti took over the family business. Szigeti seeks to produce wines in a fresh style with clear varietal expression. Grüner Veltliner Brut shows notes of green apple and citrus with the savory spiciness typical of the Grüner Veltliner variety. The wine is crisp and clean tasting on the palate with a lingering dry finish. Grüner Veltliner Brut will accent simply prepared fish and shellfish like the way a squeeze of lemon might. The citrus character of this wine will highlight the brininess of raw oysters, sushi, or grilled prawns while its acidity and texture perfectly compliment veal schnitzel and fried chicken.

For an ice wine, this is relatively rich. But it certainly doesn’t take away from the pure acidity that lifts the sweet fruit, giving the ripe peach and dried apricot flavors a great frame. It is ready to drink now, but another year and it will be even better focused.
