Roederer Estate Brut

Roederer-Estate-Brut
Roederer Estate Brut, the first California sparkling wine produced by Champagne Louis Roederer, builds upon a 200-year tradition of fine winemaking that has made Roederer champagne among the most sought-after in the world. Roederer's winemaking style is based on two elements: ownership of its own vineyards and the addition of oak-aged reserve wines to each year's blend or cuvee. All the grapes for the Anderson Valley wines are grown on the Estate. Each year, the winemaker selects a portion of the best wines for aging in Center of France oak casks. Aged from one to three years, wines from this reserve cellar are added to the blend, creating a multi-vintage cuvee in the traditional Roederer style, known for its body, finesse and depth of flavor. The Roederer Estate Brut debuted in October 1988, and has since established its reputation as one of California's premier sparklers, remaining true to the heritage of excellence and style of its French forebears.

Layers of spice and fruit continue with flavors of blood orange, pomegranate, persimmon, and more black cherry mingle with notes of black tea, dark chocolate, and anis. The bright acid and silky tannins give the wine a fresh vibrancy.

Carpe Diem is ripe with aromas and very fruity, but with limited oak expressions. Acidity levels show off the Anderson Valley climate. This Chardonnay will go well with baked halibut and a lightly dressed spinach and cherry tomato orzo.

Classic, complex, and elegant. "A deep ruby red color with a combination of dried earth and musky roses with penetrating spice aromas on the nose. Shows a refined and silken texture and remains fresh and lively across the palate with intensity of fruit. Intriguing, balanced, and complex, it is a great picture of the finesse and intensity of Pinot Noir in Anderson Valley.” –Stéphane Vivier

This Anderson Valley Pinot Noir is a blend of fruit from two of our estate vineyards. Maggy Hawk in the cool "deep end" of the valley is one of the last vineyards before the Pacific Ocean and benefits from the proximity to the maritime influence. Skycrest Vineyard is situated within the warmer Eastern section of the valley and sits at a much higher elevation. Both vineyard sites benefit from unique soils comprised of weathered sandstone which moderates vine vigor and allow for excellent drainage.

Kendall-Jackson-Outland-Ridge-Pinot-Noir
Jackson Estate wines showcase our cherished vineyard estate properties located on rare, coastal California terroir of mountain tops, ridges, hillsides and raised benchland soils. This limited release allows our winemakers to emphasize the extraordinary terroir of our unique properties and craft very small lots for refined palates. Cultivated on Anderson Valley’s high eastern ridge, this remote vineyard is full of chunky, broken rock in thin, powdery soil similar to a Goldridge classification. Pinot Noir vines strain to cling to the ridgelines yet produce deep, profoundly complex and age-worthy wines.

Roederer Estate Anderson Valley L’Ermitage Brut

Roederer-Estate-Anderson-Valley-L’Ermitage-Brut
Old and older, the 2005 L'Ermitage is a cuvee of 52% Chardonnay and 48% Pinot Noir plus 4% reserve wine from the 2003 vintage. Yet this is the current release of Roederer Estate's special Tête de Cuvée, which is made only in exceptional vintages from estate-grown grapes in the remote Anderson Valley of California. In the tradition of its parent Champagne producer Louis Roederer in France, Roederer Estate makes sparkling wine in the methode traditionelle and adds oak-aged reserve wines to each blend. It certainly benefited from the extra years of elevage, mellowing on the lees and softening this 2.98 pH wine. A revelation in what California's sparkling wine can be.

Copain-Les-Voisins-Pinot-Noir
The Les Voisins, French for “the neighbors,” wines are derived from closely clustered, neighboring vineyards, offering a nuanced and tightly focused reflection of Anderson Valley and Yorkville Highlands. This red wine offers a plush, yet dense palate that is very approachable while showing layer upon layer of complexity with each swirl of the glass. This red wine is the perfect introduction to new Pinot Noir fans and will also please the most critical fans of classic Burgundy. This red wine has aromas of black cherry, anise, and tea leaves. On the palate, notes of raspberry and red currants are met with earth and vanilla. The silky texture is balanced by a lasting finish.

Navarro-Pinot-Noir
For almost forty years Navarro has been producing Anderson Valley Pinot Noir wine and two decades ago we set out to dramatically increase our estate Pinot vineyard acreage. Given Navarro's early winemaking experience with several Pinot clones, each one with a different flavor profile, we felt pretty confident about clonal selection. The biggest gap in our knowledge concerned newly available rootstocks. How would they perform in Philo? We decided to plant our newer fields with a selection of different rootstocks as well as various clones, the shoots that are grafted on to the roots. After twenty vintages of making wine from various clone/rootstock combinations, it's our observation that there is as much flavor profile difference due to the rootstock choice as the clonal selection. One rootstock we've used is Rupestris, which has a deep tap root. We've also planted using Riparia Gloire, whose roots spread more horizontally. It's our guess that the rootstocks are getting nutrients from different soil strata, which alters the wines' eventual taste. This bottling is a complex cuvée, produced from nine separate vineyard blocks, planted to five distinct clones, on five different rootstocks.
