Argiano Solengo is a modern, well-balanced and full-bodied wine. It is deep, dark purple in color with a bouquet of ripe fruit, such as black currants and blackberries, with a hint of toasted oak. Produced from a single vineyard whose name references the steep slopes that are considered a “beast” to cultivate by the vineyard workers, the label artistically reflects this characteristic. Full in body and well-structured, Poggio Bestiale bursts from the glass with blackberries and licorice aromas, and hints of smoke and graphite. Its elegance is marked by the sweet tannins that linger on the palate along with aromas of leather and spices. New, medium-toasted French oak barrels are used for aging the wine for 14-18 months. The de Renzis Sonnino family has been living in the rooms of the Castello di Montespertoli since the beginning of the nineteenth century when it was purchased by Isacco. Conservative renovation work, a commitment to the protection of the historic-cultural heritage and the revival of the winegrowing activity have made the Castello Sonnino one of the most interesting sites and one of the finest producers in Florentine Chianti. The Castello Sonnino with its thirteenth-century tower, symbol of the territory of Montespertoli, overlooks the valleys of Florentine Chianti. Here, for over two centuries, the Sonnino family has been producing wines and extra-virgin olive oils of remarkable character, fusing a profound knowledge and love of the earth with a constant spirit of research. Today, Baron Alessandro de Renzis Sonnino steers the company along this path between tradition and experimentation, resulting in the creation of one of the most interesting wines of the new Tuscan generation.
