Nero D'Avola

Cusumano winery is spearheaded by two brothers who value for artistic excellence passion for meticulous detail have driven them to create an explosion of modern, innovative, dynamic wines. This fruit-forward wine is deep ruby red with firm tannins and notes of plummy spice.

WINE DESCRIPTION Nero d’Avola is the most important red wine grape in Sicily, and is one of Italy’s most important indigenous varieties. It is named after Avola, a town in the far south of Sicily and its wines are compared to New World Shiraz, with sweet tannins and plum or peppery flavors. “The Black Grape of Avola” seems to have been selected by growers near Avola several hundred years ago. Initially it was confined to the southern tip of Sicily, but more recently has spread throughout the island. Its percentage is uncertain, though for sure there are no significant plantings outside of Sicily. TASTING NOTES Dark ruby red color. The bouquet on the nose is intense and typical with hints of dark cherries and blackberries together with more complex aromas of wet leather, black olive and Indian ink in the background. On the palate it is dry, rich, full-bodied, with a refreshing, long and fruity finish.

The nero d'Avola vinified on its own gives this wine an exciting red colour, an aroma of ripe fruit and a typical, deep, balanced flavour. Campo Reale comes from vineyards at the heart of the Tenuta Rapital, on gentle hills at 400 metres altitude which, because of their history, terrain and climate, endow wines with a special character.

Sicilia, Italy- This medium-bodied wine features black cherry and raspberry fruit in an easy-drinking style. Made from 100% Nero d'Avola grapes, the wine also offers some hints of Mediterranean herbs. Try it with lasagna or veal (Fresh, Black Cherry, Raspberry, Medium-bodied)

Harmonium is the winning combination of Nero d’ Avola’s strength and Firriato’s style. The goal with Harmonium was to create the “cru of crus” that offered all the manifestations of this eclectic vine’s richness. After 15 years of analysis and microvinification, Firriato identified three different crus in the 165 hectares of the Borgo Guarini Estate: Ferla, Lepre and Beccaccia, cultivating vines from three different Nero d’Avola clones. The complexity of the soil and climate conditions has allowed the different organoleptic characteristics of the three Single Vineyards to be highlighted. The Harmonium grapes are harvested at different times because they ripen at different times. They are vinified separately before being united into the blend behind the story of this iconic label.

One of the first Nero d’Avolas introduced to the American market, Regaleali Nero d’Avola is now a well-established example of this varietal from Sicily. Cultivated in the heart of the island, this wine expresses itself in old-world style and elegance. After fermentation in stainless steel, the wine is aged in a combination of 50% stainless steel and 50% Slavonian oak barrels. Bright ruby-red color, this wine offers layered notes of cherry, mulberry and raspberry. On the palate, it is complex and supple, with ripe berry flavors framed by silky tannins.

Ample and persistent; shows intense fruity notes of plum, cherries, and spicy hints. Dry and medium-bodied, revealing mouthwatering red fruit; hints of wild mushrooms and espresso lead to substantial and polished tannins; beautiful graphite minerals linger on the long finish.

A feminine, sensual and fascinating Nero d’Avola with a spicy and lively saline character, this wine truly represents the intriguing Sicilian terroir where it is produced. The wine has a bright ruby red color with intense shades of violet; its bouquet shows marine aromas, scents of mulberries and raspberries, pickle notes and a touch of light spices. On the palate it is fragrant and full, with soft velvety tannins that shape a vibrant, Mediterranean personality.
