After a few minutes in the glass, this stunning wine opens up to reveal classic Nebbiolo aromas of leather, tilled soil, underbrush, fragrant blue flower and ripe berry. Renato Ratti Langhe Nebbiolo has delicate, lasting red fruit aromas. The wine is filled with Nebbiolo’s classic notes of strawberry and raspberry followed by pleasant savory and earthy notes. This is a velvety wine, blending a full body and rich notes with balance and finesse. The finish is long and graceful. It is approachable now and will evolve delightfully for 10-12 years.

Deep red in color, with highly concentrated aromas of currant and black cherry fruit with a hint of coffee. Also, aromas of fine herbs, minerals and exotic spices. Almost always the most powerful and austere of Gaja's five single-vineyard wines, requiring a longer time to fully develop. A very focused, concentrated wine with a long, lingering finish and refined tannins, it has excellent aging potential.

Displays an alluring bright ruby red colour. Perfumes are vibrant, with lots of raspberry tones, followed by red cherry and stone fruits, ramassin plum and florals. In the palate, this Nebbiolo is generous and vibrant, fresh, with reminescence of raspberry and a hint of fresh mountain strawberry. There is plenty of red tones supported by elegant and gracious tannins and a delicious, lifted finish.

"Figa" is Italian slang, albeit slightly vulgar, but also common in some northern regions like Milan and Bergamo where folks may use it as a comma or placeholder when speaking, not dissimilar to "dude" or "like" for American English speakers. Nebbiolo is the mighty grape of Piedmont and Lombardia famous for its lightly colored yet beastly tannic red wines. As always: natural ferment, unfined, unfiltered....a great food wine! Joe Swick is a native of Portland, Oregon who makes a wide array of unique organic wines. All his wines are made with natural yeasts, unexpected grape varieties grown in both Oregon and Washington State by small, dedicated growers. Joe's earlier wines included studies on Pinot Noir clones but nowadays many of his wines are adventurous co-ferments and naturally-made versions of classic grapes from Portugal or Burgundy.

Nose: the nose is vivid, powerful and neat; austere at the beginning. Wild berries, coffee, licorice, violet and mint. Good balsamic tones. Palate: powerful and structured; savoury with clear tannins; very long finish. Pairings: long cooking red meats, perfect with deer roast.

2010 is an outstanding vintage for Barolo. There are so many choices for your cellar, and frequently Barolo from great vintages is destined for the bottom of your cellar and long term aging. But not this one! The Fratelli Seghesio vineyards are in Monforte d’Alba, the center of the Barolo appellation, and they are famous for their Barolo crü La Villa. Additionally, they also make a wine from the younger vines and a portion of the vineyard facing to the south-east. This 2010 Seghesio Barolo DOCG is that product and is destined for drinking in the first 10+ years of its life. In great vintages like 2010 it is absolutely delicious and drinkable now. The nose is full of classic aromas: the ethereal rose petals, wild cherries and a hint of smoky underbrush; on your tongue the wine is supple, it still says Barolo with its palate presence as a veil of tannin brushes the inside of your mouth but the wine's luscious fruit is what centers its flavors. The warm, inviting flavors are balanced and smooth and make this wine so easy to drink - you’ll be reaching for a second bottle.

Historic wine of the winery coming from the carefully selected blend of the Monfalletto Estate vineyards in the town of La Morra. Age of vines are between 15 to 50 years, all with South /East and South/West exposures giving the perfect grapes and harmonious ripeness. The clayey and calcareous soils add elegance and complexity. Magnesium oxide and manganese in the soil facilitate the maturation of soft and dense tannins. Altitude between 800-1000 feet ASL.
