Intensive Red color with violets hints. On the nose it is extremely fresh. Black and red fruits such as blackberries and wild berries; very earthy coming from the Bierzo soils such as roasted notes smoke and liquorice, some hints of balsamic aromas, mint mainly, are also present. The wine is firmly structured on the palate, with incredible depth and a persistent fruit-driven finish. Perfect balance with very fine tannins. A fresh and clean wine, it is delicious on a hot day slightly chilled with grilled meats and grilled vegetables. It is also wonderful as an aperitif enjoyed with smoked meats and cheeses, Cured beef Carpaccio, lamb with pea, mint and feta dressing, chicken shawarma or haloumi cheese gyro.

Flooded with floral and fruity aromas, makes its youth a quality, adding as a virtue a body and structure strange in this class of wines. A young wine with high expression of the variety and the vineyard it comes from. The taste is fresh, lively, with an excellente balance, and a fleshy tannin which gives it a great complexity.

A-Portela-Mencia-Red
A unique wine produced with the rare Mencia grape (pronounced Men-THEE-ah). Mencía only grows in North East Spain. In this case, A Portela comes from Valdeorras, which is one of the most inland wine regions of Galicia. During Roman times Valdeorras was known for its gold, hence its name, the valley of Gold. The vines are tended in granite and slate soil. The high elevation of this precious small part of Galicia produces Mencía grapes that are different from other Galician wine regions, flavors tend to be more uplifted, more floral, brighter, and very pretty! A Portela is all unoaked to emphasize the purity and delicate flavors and aromas of this grape. It is produce from estate own grapes that are organically grown. A Portela signifies the doorstep to heaven. It is also the name of the high elevation hill of 5 hectare (12 acre) located in the town of Larouco (province of Ourense), where the Mencía vines that make this profound mineral wine come from. A Portela is a joint venture between the Sharon family and CVA.

Akilia--Chano-Villar-2011
Without hints of extraction, the Mencia has a light dress. Aromatic blow wraps at half-power, between gum, licorice, black berries, laurel, lactic and balsamic aromas. The mouth is tense, lively, with the texture of the grenade. The wine is juicy, fruity and spicy, with delicate and demure profile. Simplicity and austerity seize this wine.
