Garnet coloured. The pretty primary aromas of blackcurrant and violet petals are highlighted with notes of mineral talc and cedar. The linear and structured palate is typical of Cabernet Sauvignon, with chewy tannin and chocolate elements supporting the long blackberry flavours. Fresh acidity complements the long, sweet fruit finish, resulting in a wine with immediate appeal and varietal presence.
Deep magenta. Cassis, cherry and bramble aromas are highlighted with hints of couverture chocolate and cedary French oak. Rich blackberry fruit, firm chocolatey tannins and savory notes define the palate and linger.
Matured in used American and French oak. Exceptionally deep purple-crimson for a wine at this price, and the flavour does not tell fibs; it is loaded with black fruits, and is a classic now (with barbeque beef or ox) or in 10 years time (slightly smaller serve of beef). Terrific value for the carnivore set of which I'm commander-in-chief. 92 pts. Drink by 2013. Great value
